I've tried turning the music all the way and the effects all the way up but it's still too hard to hear by my old bad ears.
I opted for the easiest mode with maximum HUD and tutorials so I was expecting the audio cues to be extremely audible (on an aside, while video games are a visual medium, it's in the title, it isn't very accessible to those who might be hearing impaired to not provide a visual indicator as well).
(note I tried EVERYTHING to hear it - and EVERY game level. On some YouTube vids I hear it in them. I verified my file - nothing).
Even the keyboard setting for the game are a little wanky - Hold then release while using another key to aim is very alien to most games - it should be aim then press button.
Ill give it a shot and see.
Tonight I learned that I was just doing it wrong.
You have to pick your direction and press and the hold the action button way faster than I was. In fact I feel like I need to be pressing the movement button before combat initiates.
I got beat up many times before I finally figured it out. If you are able to load up your weapon in time there is a chime to let you know when to release the action button.
But my issues resolution doesn't resolve the original posters issue.
and do you wear headphones while playing? (makes it easier to hear)
Hi, did you find any solutions for this problem?. I have same. I can't hear the tick sound in combat (snake, tiger, warthog). Hence, I cant counterattack them as the game guided.
The chime on some actions, like sharpening a stick, is really clear.
There is a visual aspect to this cue as well. During a counterattack, your hominid will be in motion while he prepares the blow. When he stops moving, *that's the cue*. The time does vary and it's usually related to how well-positioned you are when the attack comes.
I've played this game for many hours with no audio. It makes it more difficult, but not that much harder. Crafting(sticks and tools especially) is harder than fighting. And there are times when the cue is only audio based. But for the most part in those cases, there's no penalty for missing the cue(example: khat paste). The biggest exception to this is crafting rock tools. The good news there is that the time doesn't vary, it's always about 2 seconds.
Hope that helps.
Could it be that you have to gain certain skill levels before the game makes it a bit easier for you with an audio cue ?
Time does vary due to the different rock you are using.
What I cant get over is how totally stupid the other AI apes are. Just had one die from the cold.
I suspect if you had an ape die from the cold he must have been very close to death already. If you have a clan member bleeding and don't take care of it they can go pretty quick.
