When to evolve?
I've just been making around 6 babies and then passing 15 years doing the neuron thing. But when should I evolve which passes around 500 years or so?

Seems to me I can just keep passing neurons down to the next generation all the time and complete the feat tree without evolving lol.

Maybe i'm wrong but would be nice to get some feedback from someone who knows about this please.

ok...

Evolution is based on your exploits. So, say you explored a lot, or killed predators and so on. It bases the years that pass (and how much down the tree) you progress. I got +1mln years for killing two predators, exploring 5 new places and making all possible new food/things discoveries.
Obviously, you're not going to evolve in just 500 years, dude..

yeah i understand what you say but what i'm kinda saying is, if i achieve everything before i evolve, will the game end for me the first time i evolve?

You can try. But that would be a big challenge, considering that leap evolutions here give more points to lock your generation neurons with.

yeah i just wondered if i got to 100% of feats from nuerons before evolving, what would be the point of evolving before? I evolved very early on with a previous playthrough and it put me in another location! I got pissed cause i was stock pilling cool stuff and it felt like playing a new game lol. So i am trying to put it off for now

This isn't your average survival, mate. Lock the neurons to the maximum and then evolve.

It won't be possible to complete the neuron tree, because many neurons are locked beyond genetic mutations that don't become real nodes on the tree until you evolve and consolidate them, and some non-gene limited nodes simply don't exist on the tree until you're deep enough into evolutionary history to reveal them. And if an unevolved mutation dies out of a clan - say you pass a generation while you've got a mutant elder - you'll have to wait for a baby to be born with the same mutation to get it again. You can definitely try to cherry-pick types of mutations by cycling generations until you get a set you like, but the optimal meta cycle is to breed 2 generations of 2 mutations each, ensuring you're reinforcing minimum 6 nodes each generation you can get more reinforcements by finding meteorite crash sites, pass one more generation so that your youngest mutant is an adult, then spend some time doing some evolution feat tasks until you're bored of looking at this type of proto-human or neuron development progress is barred by mutation locks, and make the next great evolutionary leap.

This does somewhat disincentivise stockpiling resources and building a big elaborate settlement, though, which is unfortunate, but there really isn't that much to build anyway. It's more of an exploration game than a building game.

ok thanks for the info, not sure how you know so much about this game at such an early stage but you told me what i needed to know about leveling so to say. I am on my phase 2 and maybe 3rd generation now. I make sure i get 6 kids with every gen and use up all my reinforcements in the skill tree.

So once i can do know more i guess i have to hit the Evolve button. Doing this i bet will put me in another location which defeats the point of moving my clan if the evolve does that for me. I guess the option to explore and re-settle is up to me though.

@lebowski Man i have the same issue 😂 I'm like 10 generations in and haven't pressed the evolve button LOL just doing heaps of feats and stockpiling and finding ♥♥♥♥ for my next bunch of generations to make it easier for them and then getting 6 babies each gen, doing more ♥♥♥♥, getting mutations etc (which doing it this way makes mutations just die out really) but I'm content with cycling this style only doing evolutions when I'm content with ♥♥♥♥ loads of core neurons that I'm happy to "lose" good mutations to then roll the dice later and see if i get the good mutations again later down the track, if not who cares, love the game, no rush, play the game how you want! I love it.
