I think after 3 days of ingame time passed she was gone
I wonder if it's possible to kill the bird. I've been getting pretty good at counter attacking animals, but my only experience with the bird was to try to evade and the guy fell out of the tree and died from the fall.
About 6 mins in here.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKmETTTdXJ4 he does it.
I've not really tried fighting much yet, but from what i can tell from watching, you hold A face to turn, but then stop using the analog sticks and release A to attack. To dodge, you hold A, and keep pressing in a direction on the Analog sticks then release A.
As far as the scared Ape goes, maybe if you take an Elder you can comfort them. But all other Apes will have no prompt to do anything unless the bird is killed. Guessing though there. It's weird how some are able to interact with them and other people aren't (as in, they can't highlight them).
When I first spotted it I could not interact with it like so many have posted here.
Only thing I did not try was honey. I noticed that a green momba snake would come and go almost directly below - so maybe the money was poisoned??? - anyways I got some honey on a stick - was at base of tree until snake appeared and jumped on tree and used intimidation (don't have the attack ability yet) - scared snake away - went back to the monkey - it no longer was scared - gave it the honey stick and it followed me home. This worked for me - not sure if the scared monkey spawns by the birds nest- that might be a whole other method BUT it looks like there is something outside of the monkey that has to be done to get it to respond.
Snakes will die in one hit, other animals take multiple. Any stripped branch will work or even a rock if you're willing to hit it more times.
If you're going hunting to develop your killing skill, hold a stripped branch in each hand. It won't affect your counter attack and you'll be able to quickly switch hands to have another one ready for the animals next attack. You use your stick every time you use it on an animal so you'll need 3 to 5 for most animals.
