The amount of people that don't know the difference between an ape and a monkey is too damn high
Besides i particularly like to use the name monkey for this game, its funnier.
Like the difference between man and human.
It goes as follows :
Humans ----) Great apes -----) Primates ----) Animals.
Humans, Monkeys and Lemur and everything related to those are Primates.
The only way Monkeys can become ape is if they eventually gain a higher intelligence (so bigger brain), a bigger body, live longer and lose their tails.
All mammals have tails at some point during their development. In humans, it happens in the embryonic stages for 30 days, enough to grow the tail bone, then the genes turns off and other tissue grow on top for the next 4 weeks. This is called the Coccyx and all mammals, including Apes, have one.
Some people will develop mutation, such as an extra thumb, padded feet, a 5th appendage, a tail. These are cases of atavism, a rare biological occurrence in which an offspring will suddenly evolve traits shared by a distant ancestor, rather than shared with his or her parents. Basically, a millennia-old trait will unexpectedly reappear.
Maybe in a few millenia the tail bone will disappear, but for now, they are the grim reminders of our savage past.
Great Apes are more closely related to us, more bipedal skeletal structures. High intelligence. No Tail. Etc. Humans, gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons, and bonobos.
We are Great Apes, but we class ourselves outside of this simply because theres nothing anywhere near close to use, the closest being Chimpanzees.
Monkeys have skeletons similar to 4 legged animals. Often have a tail. Dont live as long. Intelligence, but not nearly as intelligent as the Great Apes. Baboons, macaques, marmosets, tamarins, and capuchins
