Controller / Gamepad Not Working?

I'm on windows 10. Neither my Steam Controller or my Xbox One controller have any effect. The game only detects mouse and keyboard input. I've tried having a controller connected before launching the game, and after launching the game, and still nothing. There's nothing wrong with my PC / drivers as my controller works fine in Steam / any other game. What's the deal?

You have to have the controller plugged in before you start the game, then it should work. That's what happened with my wired 360 controller.

I did have it plugged in well before I started the game, as originally I was launching the game via Steam Big Picture using the controller. No matter what I did, it didn't detect it...

For whatever reason, after a reboot it was detected and worked fine.

Ohhh I rebooted mine too, after ununstalling a program, then it worked. I didn't correlate the two actions.
That must have been it.

Restarted, rebooted, all done. Still not working. It shows me Press A to start, but nothing is happening . Xbox 360 controller works fine in every other game

If anyone else have problem in 2018 to play TWD with gamepad XY mess up and right stick not working there is other way to make it work just fine.
1. You need to download whole package dinput8-x360cev21 from x360ce.
Dont have link - it should contain folder called blocker.
Open it paste there dinput8.dll from this folder to block gamepad totaly in game.
2. You need to download Xpadder search for 5.7 version.
When you do it with win10 you need to open with win7 compatibility mode install it.
You can find tutorial how to bind mouse and keyboard inputs to ur pad its really not hard thing to do. Game is nice and easy playable.
