DirectX - Unknown error 0x887A0004

When I try to start up Walking Dead: A New Frontier on Windows 7, I keep getting this error message:

I don't understand what's wrong. My computer should meet all the requirements to run the game.

For those wondering if this is a Steam version issue, I bought the game on GOG and have the exact same error message and problem.

I have opened a support ticket in Telltale's *ridiculous* "new" support system, but I was shocked to see they now closed their support forum so not only can you not report or ask questions there, but cannot even learn from others' similar issues and fixes as they've gone around closing every help thread with no comment except "contact support"!!!

However, I am expecting this will sadly end in a refund, something I don't want as I've enjoyed the previous games in this series, but I've had experience with Telltale's tech support before, and don't hold out hope for a timely fix.

(the fact that the above post's TTG reply contains almost every generic fix short of "turn it on and off again" fills me with even less hope)

Guys, the accurate solution is adjusting your graphic card switching. For example, my computer doesn't do it automatically. So, try it I hope it will work.

There are some some solution to this problem. Because this error occurs more than once. It is in Batman the telltale series and Walking Dead NF
