Yes it is in the comic universe and there's some character crossover this season, my question was more specific (like what issues or volumes of the comic timeline would Season 3 be happening in).
Having read the comics and up to date, same for the show, nothing so far is giving away where we are in the comics.
Sure we had Glenn in S1, but all signs says that's before he ran into Rick.
Between S1 and S2, only a few months passed..
And after S2, we know it's been 2-3 years judging by Clementine and the baby.
And now we have Jesus, but there's no info about his involvement with the Hilltop yet.
Unless the Hilltop is in Richmond and somehow i missed that info.
As of now, we don't have any info that i can think of that would help us figure out where in the timeline this all takes place, unless someone else can point out some info i overlooked
Actually at least six or seven months have to passed between Season one and two. As Christa is at best only in the early stages of pregnancy at the end of the first season and is heavily pregnant in the opening scene.
Considerably past it. Glenn's death would have happened in the timeskip between the opening scene of Season two and the campfire scene. Current with the comics is what has been stated which is vague but would also put it at four years in.
how do we know Glenn's death happened during S2?
i'm really curious on what details i missed..
Jesus didn't make any mention of Alexandria safe zone and after their intial meeting Rick and Jesus form a good friendship, so it would seem odd that Jesus donesn't mention the Hilltop or Alexandria.
Hell maybe Jesus hasn't found the Hilltop and made it his home yet, maybe he will end up heading north and stumble on the Hilltop.
Also as a side note Jesus makes his first comic apperance in issue 91 which would be the start of voulme 16: A Larger World.
sry for my english i tried my best
yeah I agree
I'm almost for sure this is all before Jesus even finds the Hilltop or Alexandria.
And I really don't think this is taking place after Negan's arc.
Plus Jesus is still wearing his old wordrobe which he changes after all of that Negan bs.
Then again, the comic books did do a time jump after Negan's arc,
there is a small possibility Jesus left on his own adventure and this game is telling that part of his story.
hopefully the later episodes will give us some more clues..
In terms of time in the comic two years have happened at the point of Glenn's death. Two years have passed by the point of the campfire scene.

If this timeline is correct they would be day 1481 since the outbreak happened. Now we know Clem is 13 years old at the start of the new season and she turned 9 during season 1. So from her 9th birthday until the time she turns 13 would be 4 years.
Not including a leap year 4 years would be 1460 days. According to the timeline day 1460 would be around issue 147, which is Volume 25 out of the 27 current volumes in the series.
So the point I'm trying to make is I think the timeline for Telltale's game and comic do not match up and maybe the addition of Jesus into the game was meant to be a nod to the comics. Plus Carl is 13 in the comics currentlyand at the start of the series he was only 7.
