Why do people hate Javier?

I see in the discussion a lot of people are not happy about Javier being the main character for most parts of season 3. Why do you guys not like the idea of a new main character?

Well ignore then how Max very clearly states she is a hipster in the game. Also being a kid isn't an exclusive state it's possible to be a kid and multiple other things not that she is a kid due to be 18. What with the way that season of Walking Dead rather clearly shows hat.

That was either teen goofiness or bad writing on their part. I'm in an area that's been pretty saturated with hipsters for well over a decade and she's really not like them.

I hate him because I don't want to play as some absurdly handsome random doofus I don't know anything about. I want to play as the badass character I've spent the last two games with. I also have a bad feeling that Javier is gonna be Clem's love interest and Clem is gonna go back to being a character we have to protect. Like, caring about and wanting to protect Clem was one of the best parts of S1. One of the big problems I had with S2 is that there's no other character who fills that "protect" role since we are Clem. I'm afraid Telltale is gonna try and recapture that feeling by making Clem a secondary character you have to care for again, which would be total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I know we had her as the MC for the 2nd season, but maybe they looked at some stats or something or they went a bit more corporate.

Its sad but most companies do take that into account when making a game, look at what Life is Strange went through before being able to get produced, most companies refused it because the protagonist was a schoolgirl.

Wasnt related to the thread but its just my 2 cents, id personally prefer Clementine a lot more as the main protagonist rather than some random male we dont even know, it can also be foreshadowing for things to come if Clem doesnt have plot armor anymore like she used to in the 2nd season.

i enjoy games more if the main character is female. I enjoyed life is strange. great all around in my opnion. Also enjoyed remember me as well.


But on the subject topic. I would of rathered just have clementine as MC and play as her instead of as Javier. I dont hate the guy. I dont know him. Last thing I see in season 2 is clem going on to the next part of her journey.

so instead of countinue that journey I am stuck with playing a person I know nothing about and will probably is going to be the main character only for the first episode if not also second episode.

I know we are getting 2 episodes from the get go but I wouldnt put it past tell tale to not let me see clementine till the end of episode 2 and a "here she is" then to be countinued then having to wait for episode 3 to actually start talking to her. Which kind of sucks if it does turn out that way.

Also comparing that we knew nothing about lee is kind of pointless. it was the first season. Game just came out. We had what we hand. Nothing to compare it to. It just was.

Both games were about clementine. Should of stayed that way in my opnion. She is older now. No reason why Javier couldnt of just been another person in the group like other adults. Javier might be "young" but he looks in his 20s. If he is a possiable love interest for clementine , i will refuse it.

My clementine will be a lesbian if possiable. To many crap males through out her life (other than lee of course) for her to even find them interesting.

Why do people hate Javier? It's because he has no ties at all to the running story of the Walking Dead. It's new, new is good, but it's the fact that we're now following a guy and his problems that we never even met before. He's had no build up, no connections to the story already being told. It's a weird shift in the narrative and the only thing that even keeps him in the continuity is because Clem happens to show up. People wanted continuation of Clem's story since they left it on a cliff hanger in Season 2, no matter what ending you chose.

Now there's Javier, a guy we literally know nothing about and has little to do with the main story evolving. It's a huge shift from meeting Clem, helping her grow, watching how she develops on her own and grows stronger. Now, Clem is a backseat to Javier, a washed up baseball player and his family.

It would be if the actual show, four seasons in, suddenly introduced new characters and Rick and them became background characters that only serve as plot tools. In a narrative sense, it makes no sense to have this much of a change.

I actuallly like him. I like Clementine as well. To me it seems there are fanboys of Clementine who just want her as a main character, which is cool for them to have their opinion, but I like Javier's development as a character and he has shown growth. I am just stunned when they just say he is bad, but don't give a good concrete reason as to why.

Even if i wasn't clementine, this was expected
after all, you played lee in season 1
then clem in season 2
then Javier in season 3
for some reason it makes sense that you would play "jesus" for season 4
and you get to see clem again
