Is this really Season 3?

I have seen plenty sites announcing this game the Season 3, but is it really Season 3? On the Telltale site there is nowhere written, that this acutally is Season 3. Normally the Walking Dead Season Games contained the word Season in it, but this one doesn't.

Sure you can import your saves from Season 1 and 2, but that doesn't mean, that it has to be Season 3. You can't even control Clementine in this one. Even on the steam site there is nowhere written, that this is Season 3 or even meant to be.

It really looks like a filler game for the wait time to Season 3.

I mean, if it is really Season 3, why the hell it is NOWHERE written on the official site...or on the game cover itself. I just see newssites writing about this being Season 3, but Telltale doesn't confirm it anywhere.

This is season 3. While the game was up for pre order, it even had "(Season 3)" written at the end of the game's title. You don't play as Clementine, but it's still a continuation of her story. There are flashbacks that explain what happened to her after season 2 concluded.

The naming thing is probably a marketing strategy in order to have people who never played the previous titles, play this one.

Yeah except when Telltale provided more information at the time of E3 they stated Season three was called A New Frontier. There's a also a post on the front page of site stating A New Frontier how to get your saves into Season three.

Beginning February 14th, the series will also be available for purchase on a special 'Season Pass Disc' for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at retail. The disc will include the first of five episodes in the third season, and will provide access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download.

It used to be called Season 3 but they completely removed all of that from almost everywhere. It would be an insult to call this trash Season 3 though.
