How old are Gabe and Mariana?

Gabe seems like he's around Clem's age, maybe a year or so younger, and Javi even says that Mariana was 10 when she was killed which means she was 6 in the flashbacks (In Ep1 Kate says it's been 4 years since the outbreak), but even in the flashback scenes they look the same age, almost like twins. Gabe is barely any bigger than her and if he were really 3 or 4 years older than her he'd be much larger than her in the flashbacks. At those ages, 6 and 9/10, there's a huge growth difference. Furthermore, there's not much a size difference between them in present day. Mariana is just a couple inches shorter than Gabe.

I think TellTale dun goofed here. Mariana looks to have been about a year younger than Gabe, putting her at around 12 when she was killed.

But like I said, they've always been the same size and no 6 yr old girl is as tall as her 10 yr old brother. Flashback Gabe seemed younger than 10 and flashback Mariana seemed older than 6. Mariana seemed older than Clem was in season 1 and Clem was 8 when season 1 started. Likewise, present day Mariana seemed older than 10 and Gabe seemed a little younger than 14.

I feel like there was a goof here on TellTale's part, like they wrote the story with the idea that the kids would be younger, then aged them up a bit to give Clem a love interest in Gabe but forgot to rewrite the lines that would contradict it.
