I disagree with you about Clementine's story being over in that if you say what you said in regards to an adult like Lee, then maybe I can see where you're coming from. He's grown up, he's lived, and it can be argued that there isn't much development with that kind of character (although you still could). With a kid I think it's different. There are still many years and things you can do with a kid growing up and Clementine is no different. There are the preteen, teen years, young adult years. Lots of experiences left to see with Clementine.
There is also the issue with Rick in the TV series. Why is he still the central character after so long? Why can it not be so here? And especially with, again, a kid, who is in fact growing up.
But, that's my humble opinion and I completely understand your point. We respectfully disagree.
Well Ty sir :D
Thing is, if this was another story, another place, another people, fine. But being continuation of the story of the first two chapters, well, not good for most, save for new people. Most, me included, have it ruined a bit by wondering what Clem's up to all the time, rather than being fucused on the story of the game and the new people (which I don't think is bad on it's own and I do like many of the new characters).
It's just... When you play a game and come to love a character, and when you get the third sequel, the main character you love is suddenly gone and you just get to play as a... "John.". Who is John? Well John. You know. John. He's a guy and all. Oh, you wanted to know about the characters you love? Well, don't worry, John might meet them for a minute or two! Great, right?! ... And whatever the story of John is, you'll find very few people will give a crap.
It really doesn't help how they handled getting rid of the old characters too, should you chose to stay with Kenny or Jane. I think everyone knew they would have to die to make the story making easier, but they really deserved better than really stupid deaths rolled over in a minute.
...
First Season was played as Lee helping Clem. Second Season was played Clem as Lee taught her. Third Season is played as Javier helping Clem. My hope is that Season 4 will be played as Clem as Javier teaches her. This allows continuity through the constant of Clementine while allowing a range of other sories and powerful characters to emerge.
At least, I hope that is the pattern. I do want to play Clem again even though I'm enjoying my time with Javier, always playing with one eye on "how will Clem take this?" After all, what is the point of having playthroughs saved all the way from season one if the one constantly recurring character were to disappear?
