First of all, for meta game reasons. I figure we'll find out where AJ is regardless of what we do here. Secondly, I sort of got the feeling that Clem was starting to lose her innocence. I think that's what that flashback with Ava was trying to point out. So I wanted to help preserve that and show Clem we didn't have to kill the guy.
