Make this a feature, please. Especially since the patients don't exactly choose wisely when it comes to distributing themselves. The VIPs don't even go to the head of the queue half the time.
This scenario can be handled today -- once the upgrade has started, close the room being upgraded and the patients will disperse. Just remember to reopen the room once the upgrade is complete.
In regards tot he OP -- I think the idea is good in principal, but I think it should be limited to emergency patients seeking treatement only.
Why? Well....
Given the altitudes of this community seen elsewhere, if you allow all patients to be routed to rooms manually you'll have a large group of people who believe that this is obligatory -- they don't like doing it, but they've read a guide that shows that a patient with Lightheadness will get an extra +5% diagnosis if they visit this particular diagnosis room, so they have no choice but to manually pick out every patient that has lightheadness in the hospital and manually send them to the best possible room. This obligation won't prevent them from complaining that "The game isn't fun -- paitents with obviously illneesses should be automatically routed to the best diagnosis rooms."
While this represnts a small (but vocal) minority of the userbase, if the developers can address most of the issue without further damaging the experience of this group of players, I think that's sufficent.
Very true, handling VIP emergencies would be much easier. Especially when now they all just storm one room even though I have 4 of them. Although they should have AI to spread evenly - currently non-existent, this way we could at least manually help them out.
Note that the patients will redistribute themselves among all the rooms that are available. Unhappily, this mostly occurs when they go off to satisfy some need, which pretty much eliminates any benefit (the time spent satisfying the need > the time saved from queuing in another room).
Could you please read my post again? :-) Let me put it in other words then: "I have 4 of the same room next to each other (psychiatry, fully staffed, open, etc.) and when VIP emergency comes, they go queue ONLY to one of them - all 6 patients. They do NOT redistribute ever among all other available rooms. They just wait on benches at that particular one and make the challenge fail because of time limit."
Is that clearer? ;-) That's why the feature would be quite helpful.
This suggests AI pathing and decision issues that need to be fixed as opposed to introducing a totally new feature.
If they fix the AI pathing and decisions this becomes a non issue and affects the whole game, every Hospital, every level.
If they introduce this new feature it just makes you manually do what an AI pathing and decision fix would do, in addition to creating the scenario a couple posts up where people get a free reason to complain about mico-ing lines to diagnostics.
Once the pathing and decisions are fixed, it's quite easy to go into the office queues and rearrange emergency patients to the front of the line to beat the time limits.
I'm all for tools and options, but this one looks unnecesary *if and when* the AI work properly.
Cheers..!
