Following other issues were seen:
- Game crash on placing reception desk (first hospital), happened twice (2 different game profiles though). Just restarting the game and try again with the same profile resolved the issue
- Game crash on 3th hospital, but don't think was doing anything special. Just restarting the game and working again.
- I clicked a patient at the same time he ran out of the screen. The patient screen closed almost immediately, but the screen still keeps 'following' the patient. Meaning camera kept dragging to 1 corner of the screen. Again restarting the game resolved that issue.
Now with the new option to start up the game, I don't know which one to choose :P
Overall I'm glad to re-experience the hospital simulator :)
Is my configuration compatible with the game? I am on El capitan 10.11.6 !
iMac (21,5 pouces, fin 2015)
1,6 GHz Intel Core i5
8 Go 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 Mo
Thank you !
So, thank you guys for the update !
Right now, except the few cases when it still happens, I only witness one single bug specific to the macOS version, and that's the one benmann is complaining about : the game is stuck at the logical resolution instead of the physical. For those who want to override this behaviour, you can download an utility app (such as DisplayMenu, free on the Mac App Store) and manually set your screen to its physical resolution (for example 2880x1800 for a 15" retina MBP), then launch the game. It won't be capped anymore.
Thank you for your patience with this.
The problem that we have is that performance is poor at 5120 x 2880 in bigger hospitals - we had retina disabled because of this. We are planning to enable retina but limit maximum resolution to 1800 vertical res (which will mean that all options that are available should perform well)
We will also add a command line to disable this limit if your Mac is powerful enough (e.g iMac Pro)
I hope this will be ok - it will be in an update coming soon!
Thanks,
Jo
In my opinion, users should be allowed to pick whichever aspect they want to prioritise (resolution, anti-aliasing, shadows, distance…) and see for themselves if the result is satisfactory to them or not.
Tropico also has an interesting take on this. The game can run at full resolution, but the UI and the "game window" are rendered on a different level, so you can have a beautiful crisp UI, with not-so-crisp 3D graphics, which is ok (especially for Mac users as we know Apple computers are usually bad at real time 3D graphics). I know for me, I render TPH at 1440x900 and I don't mind the graphics (especially when everything is maxed out, it blends perfectly well), but the 1440x900 UI is fuzzy and that's too bad.
Anyway, a command line is a good option, I just hope not too many people will ask where is that option or how to enable it 😅
There is a new build on beta branch (see pinned post for details)
Retina support is enabled but resolution is limited to 1800 vertical res (due to performance issues). There is also a command line option to disable the limit --disable-mac-resolution-limit
Let me know how you get on!
Thanks,
Jo
I've launched the 1.06 beta version of the game a few minutes to try this out (taking a break, I don't want to finish the game too fast 😛), I'm using a 2017 touch bar 15" MacBook Pro, and I can finally pick all the resolutions up to my physical resolution of 2880x1800, while my logical desktop screen resolution remains 1680x1050, it's just perfect 😃
I also was unable to break the full screen this time, while I've been switching to other spaces, using video PiP and interacting with websites. Seems that it also belongs to the past 😃
Thanks a lot for listening 😃
As a side note, I've just been granted a slot to try out GeForce Experience on macOS (it's streaming gaming), and Two Point Hospital runs pretty well that way. With full options and a 1920x1080 resolution (they don't seem to provide higher resolution video streaming), it runs without hiccups (although it seems to be capped around 30fps, while other softwares can reach 60fps through GeForce Experience).
For people with GeForce Experience, remember to switch your computer resolution to at least 1920x1080 because Nvidia's app doesn't understand macOS' retina logic. Then, launch steam inside the GeForce Experience app and there you go 🙂 It can be a very interesting workaround if your computer is too slow to run the game properly. Honestly, for that kind of game, if you're lucky to have fibre channel, it's a very convincing experience, no lag to expect, no video artefacts (except when the server suddenly slows down, which can happen for a short period of time).

To help it out: It works exactly with one resolution. That one is very tine in windowed mode, enlargening it has the scrambled errors return. Any other resolution I tried did work neither in full screen or windowed mode.
OpenGL mode will just "crash and burn" whenever I try starting that.
EDIT: I was asked by Blarla to provide screenshots, so I did my best to make some, in case you want them.
This is the hospital, for example.
