Game won't start on PC (hotfix)
PC, Win7, tried standard and beta (hotfix), verified files, run as admin and without. Sometimes I get a white screen then an error, sometimes it goes straight to the error. Have updated my graphics driver, NET framework, even downloaded that Windows Media pack thing everyone was recommending, but it says it's not valid for my system when I try to install it (so I probably already have it?). Moved the game to my C drive so it's in the same place as Steam itself. Nothing has worked.

Event viewer log:

Faulting application name: TPH.exe, version: 2018.1.9.48088, time stamp: 0x5b47339d
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000017fff0004
Faulting process id: 0x2368
Faulting application start time: 0x01d440d1f272fb2d
Faulting application path: D:\GAMES\Steam\steamapps\common\TPH\TPH.exe
Faulting module path: unknown
Report Id: 315b2795-acc5-11e8-b993-00acdcd53753

Everyone else seems to be getting a unityplayer error under Faulting Module Path, but not me. Although checking Comodo (in case anti-virus was interfering - it's not) the unity player crash reporting exe is being activated at some point.

Would appreciate help. I still have the original Theme Hospital for my original PS, I was really looking forward to this new version.

the Media pack is only valid for N editions of Windows 7, 8 and 10

Are you on SP1 with a minimum of the Dec 2016 cumulative updates installed?

It turns out it was my audio drivers. I have no idea why. Updating them fixed it (and screwed up my audio in general, damn realtek).

Good stuff :) I hope you enjoy the game! (and manage to sort out your screwed up audio...)
