If the problem is money, build the research lab and CONSTANTLY reasearch the one that gives you money, the biggerthe room, with more research bonus items and more reserachers you havethe faster you´ll complete the task and get money.
Attractiveness can be achieve quite quickly if you start putting fountains EVERYWHERE.
And employess happiness can be bosted really fast giving them a higher salary, go to the staff menu and look for red and yellow faces, get their salary higher until they have green smiley faces, wait for a few seconds while the IA gets the message and their happiness will start getting higher and higher by day.
I´m currently in Grockle Bay trying to get a the first start. Money seems to go WILD on this map, I don´t know why, so making money research in other maps and completing them in this one may help, I know I couldn´t have finish Ducksworth without that "cheat". But my biggest problem is the ratio of failure and deaths on the hospital are killing my rep.
GPs and all diagnosis other than M.E.G.A Scan cost money late game*

Bad suggestion overall and room size doesn't effect research speed and even when done correctly it needs mico-managing.
Create 1 GP and 1 Pharmacy along with a reception desk. Your hospital should be under level 3 unless you've done something very wrong. All minimum size.
From here you can normally sit and gain some cash. Send for treatment if the diagnosis is unsure and if you do not have the facility to treat then you send them home. You can run this with 3 staff but a janitor as a fourth is fine.
From here you have a couple of choices. You can choose to add a M.E.G.A Scan for extra profit if you can get the dr or you can go for more treatment facilities as they pop up as required both give profit. DO NOT build un-required rooms.
Don't bother with any Diagnosis other than M.E.G.A Scan or Fluid Analysis and keep those two along with a GP office and reception in one area if possible and move treatment areas away as you unlock new areas as patients will move from diagnosis to GPs and you don't want them walking to their deaths.
I also avoid adding food and drinks machines as they seem useless I'd rather them leave if I cannot treat them in time over dying (or staying around in my hospital and clogging up lines at near nil health).
Following this advice and only hiring staff with good traits you shouldn't ever have an issue.
By the end of next week I should have every achievement and I'll be creating my own club in the forums.

Your foundation build will become your post level 3 star build. So you need to plan and gradually prepare for every eventuallity that level brings you.
After you nailed this, money is no problem. You can safely then do all the min/max stuff.
I need time but I am going to write a guide on basic stuff.
Perfect advice and I'd love to help with those guides where possible. Silly hours put into this game so far.
Dude... room size allows for more space for adding items that help the research speed.
Also re the research room - ive researched everything there is so now the only options I have is the kudosh and 20k options - is that worth investing in massively still then?
3rd star level is 4,000 hospital value, 80% attractiveness, and 90% reputation.
I think you're mismanaging the money and you're impatient...
I have tried many different ways of managing money.
Patience wise - I dont thnk I am as I never get the chance to be impatient as I always go bankrupt ... as i said, however much money i seem to save (the last one i made sure i had huge amount saved) i still heamraged it when all values were met except hospital value which then goes down and i lose all money quickly.
Loans should only be used if an expansion is required immediately, and even then, if the expansion will bring you more money. VChrisV gave a lot of really great tips. Also, how much is "a huge amount"? I usually don't do any major expansions unless I have a minimum $500,000 nest egg.
Also keep in mind staff costs. Don't hire and keep hiring. When you do hire, only go for staff with one or two traits in the beginning, then raise them up yourself. Hiring a Rank 5 doctor will cost you $50K per year. Raising a Rank 5 doctor from Rank 1, their salary is in the $35K per year range.
Hospital value is based on not only the number and quality of rooms, but making profits month over month. The more months you make profit in a row, the higher your hospital value will be. It also factors in your cash-on-hand, so if you're constantly negative, your hospital will have a very low evaluation.
One thing I just thought of: do you have a VIP by the name of Agatha Sphere in your hospital when things go south? Agatha brainwashes patients so they rage-quit and staff so they become intensely unhappy, which means a huge financial hit for the three in-game months she hangs around. Her presence can be deadly if you're still building the hospital. Most people just follow her around and try to keep people out of her way (there are guides out there), but I tend to just pin her in a corner with air conditioners so she can't do any damage. Yes, it's annoying having dear old Albert Crank telling me she can't get where she wants to go, but better that than letting her tank my hospital when I'm starting out.
