Is this game worth without DLC's?
The question in the title. It seems fun but i don't know if without DLC's is a case akin to the Sims 4 where some DLC's are a must or Cities skylines where some are a great improvement. Thank's in advance.

Sure. I originally bought without DLC, went through 8 hospitals, gained experience and just now bought a DLC pack. The lack of DLC will not affect the game in any way. You should try to play without DLC but it definitely worth it. Good luck brother

it's your decision if you want DLC or not, i personally want to have all the DLC...:twopointcured:

The DLC's just add new levels, they don't really effect the base game.

That's not quite true. Each DLC has content that can be used in any hospital, some of which affects gameplay. For example, the Close Encounters DLC includes the Incinerator, a bin which heats up the area around it about as much as a small radiator and needs no maintenance, but if it gets used a lot it overheats for a while. The latest DLC, A Stitch In Time, includes the Wormhole Bin, which acts the same way except it cools the area around it. The Laxative Drink Machine (Pebberley Island DLC) increases the health of any patient who drinks from it, giving you more time to cure them, but also increases their toilet need, so you'll need more toilets and janitors to clean them. The Hot Chocolate Maker (Bigfoot DLC) makes any staffmember who drinks from it happier, I put 'em in all my staffrooms (even on hot levels).

Only a few of a DLCs items are that useful, most are just for increasing attractiveness/prestige, but even some of those are must-haves for me -- I can't imaging a Psychiatry without a Cuckoo Clock (Bigfoot DLC) for example. The wiki's helpful in checking out what items each DLC has:

But all that's a bit off-topic -- even if DLCs have generally-useful stuff, that doesn't mean the game's not worth playing without them. What's fun for you is up to you, but I'd say if you want a clean DLC-free experience, the game's nearly as enjoyable without them, if somewhat more challenging.

If you've limited funds and are trying to get the most bang for your initial-purchase bucks, I highly recommend the Retro Items Pack -- no maps but lots of kudosh-free items, very useful especially in the early game when base content for patient and staff entertainment is locked behind a high kudosh barrier. Also includes the Weighing Machine, which gives +1 Diagnostic power and +1 Treatment power to any room you put it in. For new players it's more immediately useful than any of the map-DLCs, and costs less money.

The Exhibition Items Pack is also all kudosh-free content, but more Attractive items than Entertainment (since you can make your own zero-kudosh Attractiveness pictures and rugs, or download other people's from the Workshop, they're generally not as useful as Entertainment items. Fun though.).

I mean I'm deciding on this game. I can't afford all the DLC. I do want the experience. But some games you "NEED" all the DLC to get a better experience and some you don't. So I'm also wondering about this.

I'd say this topic's posts answer your questions -- you don't need any of the DLCs until you run out of maps, and then you can get just the ones you want to play. If you're just starting out and you can afford one DLC, the Retro Items Pack (link above) is my recommendation. Have fun!

It's not like the game has a story that is somehow degraded by not having DLC. The base game was always great. The DLC just gives you more of it. New funky diseases and scenarios, some new rooms, some new items.
If you get the DLC after beating the core game, it doesn't harm anything, you can go straight into playing them at almost any time.

Are "maps" missions?

So it doesn't extend the store or campaign?

Calling it a campaign is a stretch. They're a series of levels that have their own themes and you progress through them.
Each DLC gives you three more levels to complete. They typically have a gimmick within them that is wildly different from the base game levels, so you can sandbox the hell out of them post 3-star too if you want.

The game is still complete in isolation. The DLC just gives you more game in your game if you enjoyed it.

That's what I mean.

Okay. Does the DLC just add more items or more interesting scenarios/levels after you finish the main "campaign" or levels? If so, which ones?
