Hi,

I wanted to post the way I have set up some of my rooms so far and would like to see what other people are doing as well, their thoughts, ideas to improve. I try to go for efficiency as much as possible over how it looks. I make them as small as possible but still with 90+% attractiveness, lvl 5 prestige and as much diagnosis/treatment power as possible.

GP Office

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1506897528

3 x 3 square, with 14 medical cabinets, giving 14% diagnosis power. Gold star awards all along the wall will raise prestige and attractiveness to near 100% in every room I mention. I believe a base DR stats are Diagnosis 100% and Treatment 20%. A happy, energized, lvl 5 GP will have 245% diagnosis (100% base, 50% lvl 5, 75% lvl 5 GP, 20% happy + energized). I’m not sure how the 14% is calculated because it doesn’t show on the DR’s stats. This is as far as my understanding goes.

Ward

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1506897585

4 x 4 with 5 beds, 2 screens, 2 wall monitors, 2 medicine cabinets. Think I saw similar layout on YouTube. Lvl 5 ward Nurse I believe will 270% diagnosis, with 4% increase with room bonuses and 190% treatment.

Fracture Ward

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1506897458

5x3 for 3 beds or 5x4 for 4 beds, 6 medicine cabinets and 2 wall monitors. The maths is more or less same as normal ward, maybe a little bit more with extra cabinets.

Training Room

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1506901062

5 x 4, 58 Encyclopaedia bookcase II, 28 anatomy pictures, 2 training chairs. Give approx. 260% training speed boost, a lvl 3 course for 360 points, taught by a trainer at 160% takes approx. 13 days, less than a minute in real time. I have only two chairs because I rarely have more than 1 or 2 staff whose training is in sync enough to do in mass. However, this setup I find more than keeps up with the levelling pace of the staff. Very expensive, approx. £250,000. I build up over time, start with anatomy pictures as they are cheap an extra 28% for only £2800. Then slowly add bookcases as money allows. Then build a second one.

Thanks for reading.

I think prestige and attractiveness need a re-balance. Too many rooms looking like warehouses for meta items and not organic, functional offices.

True, I think medicine cabinets in GP rooms is strange in first place, that feels more like a treatment item than diagnosis. I like idea of putting in a bookcase and upgrading it by adding different books, hence giving doctor more knowledge. Could even give specific books for specific conditions to improve chance for said condition. Also the same for bookcase in training rooms, being able to upgrade them the same way. Then medicine cabinets in treatment rooms upgrade by getting different drugs etc.

I heard that items have diminishing returns, like training +1% goes to .8 to .6 etc. I have no clue if this is true but I stopped putting more than 4. of each item.

anyway lol, heres my smogley. messy, but successful

Hmm, hadn't heard that. There's no way of telling for sure atm that I'm aware of. The bonuses from medicine cabinets etc don't show up on the stats, that I can see. It will be something I will try and test.

Look at the doctor when he is diagnosing a patient.

But yes more than 5 medicine cabients, leaves you will zilch apparently. I watched this chap fiddle around with these bonuses for every item.

He found:
5 medicine cabients
20 servers
5 treatment bookcases/diag bookcases
5 training room bookcases
5 anatomy posters
5 anatomy dummy
Then you have a drop off.

He also found that IV to V levels in GP were pointless. (as it says it changes the bonuses but actually doesn't do much in reality, due to IV being enough for most illnesses.)

I usually only put 2 medicine cabients in, anymore looks wierd and to be honest with you, they don't do much. GP's properly trained to IV outweigh the 14 medicine cabients that cost you 14,000 whilst it will only cost you 125k to train one of your docs up to IV, and then you use him to train the others. Usually if you get the trait Teacher (and train masterclass on him) he trains at over 210%...which means about a month in game time or less for each trainee.

@OP : That ward looks nice but it's actually kind of terrible. a Nurse will go to the Nurse station and futz about for several seconds randomly - even as patients are impatiently waiting. For the nurse to then have to go around all the changers just to reach the one patient is just extra time X_X.

I've seen phone booths bigger than that ward...

Cheers..!

Yeah that Ward and Fracture are never going to work efficiently.

They are both the types of rooms that you absolutely cannot be stingy on space and try to cram everything in. 2 or 3 Nurses in there plus 2-5 patients and the pathfinding and bodyblocking will utterly cripple it.

It's stuff like this I really hope gets sorted out soon. Prestige 5 by spamming gold awards is really lame and goes completely against the idea of needing you to make rooms larger to achieve higher prestige so you can put a range of interesting items in them. The larger objects just don't give a significant enough amount of prestige to justify themselves.

The only room I abuse a little is the Training Room. A 3x3 room with 8 Encylcopedia II bookcases and every available bit of wall space with an Anatomy or Brain poster and room for 3-4 desks.

ya, i agree it does look strange. the medicine cabinets really dont fit well thematically. however something like the 'diagnostic bookcase' from the psycology room would fit well.

I would add: Coffee (gives a buzz), water, candy, 1 flower, bin, chair (exept GPs, wards and training) etc, to each room. To keep them in the room and happy as long as possible.
