Does bigger rooms actually increase staff morale
In the game it says that bigger rooms help increase staff morale, however I'm very dubious of this particulalry with the number of bugs in the current game. So does it actually help with morale? And if so how does it work, are there any metrics?

Bigger rooms just give you more room to place objects to increase your prestige. I've found I can accomplish everything I need with the smallest rooms and plastering the walls with the Gold Star Achievements to reach that coveted level 5 prestige. The prestige is what raises the morale of the employees and patients.

Larger rooms increase the room prestige just like placing prestige items in the room and give you more room to place said items. Higher room prestige increases the happiness of the staff using that room.

so basically size matters less than room prestige assuming you can get level 5 prestige in a smaller room

Exactly. Some rooms can benefit from extra space, though. Such as leaving extra space in fracture wards for people to line up at the casting machine.

that's part of my issue having enough space between everything to have less congestion but still have enough space to fit everything needed

The only rooms i dont do the minimum size for are bathrooms, training, wards (i only have 2 right now), staff, and research. Those are built to the size i have/need.

Providing entertainment, prestige, decor will make them happier. Bigger rooms just allow you to place more stuff. (I spam those medicine cabinets in some diagnosis rooms).

I have to say, compared to Theme Hospital we now have a lot more options when it comes to decorartions. It's still a choice between efficiency and aesthetics though. Some people will build the smallest rooms possible and only put the highest prestige items in it to get level 5 prestige regardless of how silly it looks. Others will go for something that looks better to the eye instead.

I disliked this system in Theme Hospital and I dislike it now. I feel like I get punished for wanting a nice looking hospital as opposed to one that has tons of the same pictures, plants and what not to get the maximum prestige. In my opinion all decorative items in the same class should have the same prestige value. Meaning if I place a green plant instead of a sunflower it should have the same effect. If I place a beach painting instead of an abstract one it should have the same effect.

If it worked that way we could decorate how we wanted and still get maximum prestige.

Personally I think all prestige items should have diminishing returns.

Eg if you put 2 of same item in, then second item is worth half as much.

3rd duplicate is worth half as much again (quarter value)

4th half again (1/8th)

This would encourage more variation of astetics rather than spamming the best.
