Reception desk vs reception room
Besides being able to place stuff like mini filing cabinet, charity pot etc, is there any other "hidden" advantages to using the reception room, over just the reception desk?

Reception room allows you to have a higher density of Assistants than the desks.

I start to think that the desk is much better in terms of space actually. My main issue with the reception room is that it requires a big squared shape. It ends up taking a LOT of room not for much. It is interesting when you start having more than 2 receptions in the same spot but before that it's a bit meh.

Also I've had issues where patients would ignore entirely one reception spot in my room and all go to the ones closest to the door even if they were 5 meters away.

you can click on the reception room and set it to high priority. you can't do that with an item. so if you've got a huge hospital and every assistant at the reception is on a break, they ones on duty will leave their other jobs to fill in at the reception

I had no idea you could do that, interesting. Though they already do that by default. I had a café and a reception room and two assistant and if the one at the reception goes on a break the one from the café automatically go at the reception to fill in. And then the one on the break goes back to the café and they rotate like that.

The reception room also has a prestige meter like other rooms, so if you fill it with flowers/anatomy models you can get a prestige 5 happiness buff going for your receptionists. If you use the reception desk you have to resort to either using a bunch of plants (which janitors have to maintain) or some of the expensive fountain objects, and it gets inefficient spacewise if you're trying to cover multiple receptionists with objects like that.

Reception room needs a relativily large minimum size (2x4) to be effective. With Ctrl placing you can get 4 assistants in it.

I found it better just to scatter desks all over the hospital in your gp/diag clusters. Never found a use for the rooms at all. Actually, never found a use for more than 2 receptionists no matter how big the hospital.
