Monthly expenses not working?
So I'm in the second level and something really weird is happening.

First it said my profit this month was $13k and yet I ended up losing 13k! (I made sure there wasn't a minus)

Then after that, it said my loss for the month was $-5k and yet I ended up losing $21k??

P+L the way it tells you are just staff costs minus the income from curing/appointments/selling stuff. It doesn't account for you buying extra stuff, upgrading, or training.

Yeah but I instantly lost that amount at the end of the month.

The numbers you see are not what's going to happen but what has already happened. Meaning it's a tally of past transaction.

Same thing happening to me. My profit loss is in the positvie at the end of the money, yet my money goes into the negative at the end of each month. It should increase my money. This has only happened since the latest patch

Hmmm...that does sound odd. Could you post a screenshot of the overview?

The UI doesn't make it clear enough alright. This constantly happens because of the GP glitch. The game gets bottlenecked with queues and doesn't efficiently diagnose patients, so you're not profiting from cures and end up in the red unexplainably.
I am not a financial expert, especially not in English but I think it tells you the gross income not the net income .
Gross income is the income BEFORE all expenses are included or deducted.
The expenses the game stated as 5k probably were established regular expenses.
AFTER calculating what you also spend money on during that month (building, hiring, trainers, etc.) you apparently had a net income of - 21k.

If you open the finance tab you can check your gross income (green column) and the expected expenses (red column), the difference is the profit you can spend on building, hiring, training without calculations resulting in a negative net income at the end of the month.

Okay ignore that for a sec

How do you explain the fact that my profit was 13k and yet I lost 13k?

Yeah but I would have no way to prove that my money went down rather than up.
The easy explanation would be too many one-time expenses and dumb luck to end up with roughly the same number in the negative.

It could be an odd bug as well.

I am having the same issue on the third map with a star rating of two.

I had a positive balance of 120k but but at the end of the month to changed to -20k. I hadn't spent anything on building, hiring, or training and the income was ticking away nicely with bring in the positive cash flow.

However now another month on I am at -200k and probably with going to have to restart the level or my hospital will be shut down.

I am hoping it just a bug because this is getting on my nervous ad stopping me progressing to a star rating of three.

Because your income is spread out over the whole month, but your expenses are paid on a single day. You will always lose money on the last day of the month.

So if you have $26k income over 30 days, and then have a staff (plus electric) bill of $13k then you'd have to go a whole month without building, recruiting or otherwise spending to see a month on month in your current balance of the $13k.
Then how come on the first hospital I always gained money at the end of the month?
