The actual way to play "Research"
I have been thinking how does research acutally "work". So the best way is to hide in a well built starting town map and amassing a lot of trained researchers to max out research before continuing the game?
Cause when I thought research carries on in the background while I am playing the game in another map, well apparently it's not like that.

It'll carry on in that the progress will carry on. You still need to hire researchers in your current hospital to get the work that was done in previous ones though.

That being said- you can probably go back to Mitton Uni and get all of the bonus money for completing projects and have maxed out researchers there and only do the new things that unlock in new hospitals elsewhere

yeah all the research you've started carries on to other maps, but yes, you can unlock the research in one town, switch to another and finish it there.

It's a bit "cheaty" but it works =p

Yea I went back to unlock all the research I can do at the point of the game on a lower town (2nd one) that wasn't 3 stars yet (just to kill 2 birds with a stone). I cleared everything but have not started a new map since so I'm not sure if I need a research in a new town just to port over everything. Guess I'll find out soon haha.

The first town basically plays itself after you get it to 3 stars. Only treatment types you need are ward, de-lux and pharmacy. Patient amounts are also very manageable at 100 rep.

You can do all your future research in the older hospitals once you unlock the new maps. Don't need to even start them before it.
