you would wanna make sure you haven't got your output format set to something outside of the games compatibility.
Control Panel -> Sound -> highlight your playback device, and make sure it's set as default -> properties -> Advanced -> set to 16bit CD quality
While your in 'Control Panel -> Sound' you also should check the sound meters of the other playback devices to make sure that the sound isn't getting piped to the wrong playback device (There are meters to the right of each of the devices, also make sure the game is currently running and trying to play audio)
Cheers for the help Bilbo, but it unfortunately didnt solve my problem.
With no other options than my speakers, et seems like i'm SOL.
If your only hearing a "plob" kinda sound when placing things, it could be that the game is only giving your very lowest frequency sounds and sheering the rest off. Make sure that your not using any kind of sound virtualisation or enhancement in your audio software, and make certain that your equaliser is set to default.
So, let me just get this clear, you do see some sign of audio activity in the mixer right? Did you confirm that the activity is with the device your speakers are plugged in to?
And just to make sure - you don't have any kind of other speaker attached to your system do you? Your not hearing things coming from another speaker/headphones or your monitor with the volume turned almost all the way down? (This kind of thing is often audio piping to the wrong device).
All my other audio devices in sound controlpanel is deactivated.
The sound from the game is so low, it doesn't even show in the mixer.
Every other game works fine - as far as i can see, there shouldn't be any virtualisation or enchancement in the audio (i'm using the mb drivers).
Are there any music in the game?
Truly im at a loss here.
well, virtualisation or enhancements that you have enabled in your sound control panel could easily be bugging out with the game. It's not necesarily anything that would happen in another game.
Do you have some kind of 'realtek' audio control panel in your taskbar? Next to the clock. That's where you can check your equaliser and enhancements. You will also want to check that you have the right speaker setup selected there - If you had your .1 channel being sent to your speakers it would sound exactly like what you are describing. Just make sure your speaker setup is set to stereo or headphones.
