Cheats
Cheats were essential in my Theme Hospital experience. I know cheats are out of style these days, but please keep them in this one. What do ya'll think?

My problem with cheats is that once I know them...I wont stop using them.

So feel free to add cheats...but don't make them easy to learn =p

Theme hospital did them well, requiring you to be at a fax machine to use them meaning that it sometimes took up to 5 min. to even get the chance to use them. Then you had to know the numbers to dial on the machine. It sure wasn't easy to cheat unless you went out of your way to figure out how.

An option to toggle cheats on and off before you start a game is a good option.
I'm going to bump some of the more interesting discussions that should be what we all are talking about.

I think enabling cheats in single player games is o.k.
Yes it is altering the game experience, but if someone wants to mess around or just have fun with messing around stuff, why not?

And using cheats in single player games is also nothing which should be blameworthy.

Using cheats...
Fine in single players games but if you use cheat codes:

FIRST OF ALL REMEMBER.. YOU ARE LAME!!!!
and game achievements should be disabled

If they won't be added there will probably be a trainer in a few months, thats the case with most offline games of this size
Seeing this game, a sandbox mode would be nice

I agree for the most part. I like the challenge of a game without cheats, but sometimes I want to sandbox it and not worry about money and achievments and just let my creativity flow. In my opinion, a good simulator has a challenge/senerio mode, a sandbox mode, and cheat options to fully unlock the creativity should you get bored with the limitations of game play.

Ultimately a simulator can double as a toy as well as a game.

24328. Ctrl-shift-c. "Hospital Administrator is cheating!"

No need for cheats, but would be fun if they put in a homage to that sound bite.

Absolutely agree - that sound bite was so snarky and was a favorite in my home in my youth.

The reasons why cheats would be a bad idea is because of the online leaderboards and challenges system.

Wouldn't be too hard to have a box to tick "do you want to cheat? If you do you can't play against other people"

Not saying it can't be done. Just pointing out why it wasn't done.

too me there is a clear difference to cheating using trainers or other similair programsm and using cheat codes. trainers and similair programs make it so you can do things the game devs never intended the end user to be able to do. cheat codes on the other hand allow the end user to perform extra-ordinary things that are at least on some level approved by the game developers. I would fully support cheat codes use in the game.

No. Cheating is cheating. There is no "more acceptable cheating." Did you do something you're not normally supposed to do in order to make your game easier? If yes, you cheated.
