Hello, horde!

A lot has happened since the store page went live. Here are the biggest changes in the pre-alpha (as of October 4):

We Are The Horde is now fully playable in English and German. On first launch the game follows your Windows language, and you can switch at any time under SETTINGS in the main menu.

• A bigger city: 9 districts instead of 6 – new are the Row Houses, the Bus Depot and the Warehouses.

• Counterattacks: when a district falls, the neighboring city sends soldiers through the gate. They take back humans, smoke out your sewer nests and even retake fallen districts.

• Two fronts: if a fallen district is attacked, part of your horde defends it on its own – while your own attack goes on.

• Police patrols and survivors with baseball bats fight back – once overrun, they rise again as zombies.

• The Director: conquer too much too fast and you'll face Special Ops or a Mass Raid.

• Cleanup squads and reinforcements now grow with your horde.

• The city fights back while you're offline, too.

• The Axe Thrower (formerly the Spitter) hurls its axe from afar and then goes to pick it up.

• The Crawler now has its own look and bursts out of the nearest manhole right in the middle of a fight.

• Every death is real: every zombie you see fall is really gone from your horde.

• Zombies you buy climb out of the nest right away – even straight into a fight.

• Blood splatter shows who is taking hits.

• Houses are real obstacles: roofs can only be reached from behind, and the city fence keeps the horde inside.

• Outbreak: at the start, dozens of people run screaming through the streets as soon as the first zombie climbs out of the manhole.

• Level intro: the camera starts right at the manhole where something is brewing.

• Looters with 10 kinds of loot: Blood Frenzy, Mutagen, Recruits, Radio Silence, Bargain, Tough Skin … and now and then a trap.

• Minimap at the bottom right, a red arrow pointing to incoming soldiers, and a DISTRICTS button for the city map.

• The shop opens with a click on the manhole, the upgrades sit behind the flask – more room for the city.

• Two difficulty levels (Normal / Hard) and a tutorial in the main menu.

• Before "Break Quarantine", a window explains what you lose and what you keep.

• Flatter numbers: thousands to millions instead of endless strings of digits.

The game is still in pre-alpha – feedback is very welcome! Add We Are The Horde to your wishlist so you don't miss the launch.
