Also I wasn't playing on Hard, like that other topic was, but there were a few moments in that last fight where the screen (Or at least the boss arena) was completely covered in boss attacks and it felt like there was nothing I could do but hope my shield held out. (Of course, I was using Shield Flasks + Shield Converter [Also, there is literally no reason to NOT use this as a combination. IF you are using one of them, you NEED the other. Converter because Flasks makes it so you can't heal, and Flasks because Converter makes your Elixirs useless.] and High Density Bullets + Bullet Transfabricator [Pew Pew Pew. I'd love a "New Game +" where I could attempt the entire game "Cannon-Only"])
All in all, I liked the seeming hopelessness/Heroic Sacrifice of the Resist ending. You can't escape the hell dimension you've been trapped in, but the Shining Trapezohedron and Nyarlathotep are (seemingly, anyway...) dead and gone, and can't threaten your original world anymore. (Also it took me a minute to realize that it was waiting for me to deliver a finisher shot to the collapsed Final-Final boss.)
Great game, I loved it! Now to start over, try the Corrupted upgrades and get those other two endings. :D
The skill tree would be Valkyrie Tech Upgrades instead of Trapezohedron's Tree, I guess. Just as an alternate playstyle to Eshe, maybe the Gun is the quicker and easier to use weapon and the Melee is Big Heavy slashes or something. (Actually now I'm picturing Monster Hunter and Phantasy Star Online 2 character design. Semi-bulky Armor, Big smashy Long-as-it's-wielder-is-tall energy-bladed sword and an Assault Rifle main weapon.)
Also starting from 0, Oof. The loss of all those sweet mobility options hurts. I'm getting phantom instincts and it's throwing me off. "No, you can't run up that wall anymore." "No, you don't have an airdash anymore." Ouch.
The problem here itself lies in a fact that Valkyrie BFG in any form corrupted or not... Actually not very usefull as crowd control tool - it doesn't pack enough punch to wipe out enemies mid and late game with one shot except when it's fully upgraded and resist cannon power-up was bought - but by this point you have only last boss left to kill so it is... pointless. And what makes you think against using cannon even more is recoil of said cannon which in most cases when you decide to use VBFG against horde of enemies... Will fling you right into the spikes/another enemy/ABYSS OF INSTA DEATH. So yeah people almost never use it... Well maybe like glorified finishing strike "Humanity says hello! Eat science, we got plenty!" kind of stuff but otherwise no one will rely on it as an Plan B for times when battle goes awry.
If we had something like a rifle for regular damage and soemthing like Shield Overcharge which incenerates everything around you including projectiles but comes with the limited charges - we most likely would use both way more often cause frist would be good for airborne and distant enemies and second against endless hordes. Basically meaning they have use in-game, give reliable results and don't put you into random danger after you use them.
