Just wondering if you guys have some small tips to help me and other players out.

Preferably non-meta tips (i hate meta).

Thanks in advance ;)

New myself but have a few common points of interest;

-Your gladiators are the ones with green circles at their feet during battle, which is a pointless tip once they start kicking up the dust and you dont know whos who so dont be surprised at sudden defeats.

-Dont just check enemy lvl before commiting your own gladiators, check their stats (agility etc), they're lvl doesnt exactly relate to experience.

-It seems cheap to buy water/food/wine from the market, do so regularly.

-Hire an architect early and start building training dummies and all he has to offer, then fire him to free up space for another employee (everything he builds stays even if hes gone). Youll soon realise which ones to keep and ones that are good for training purposes only

Granting freedom is actually a useful mechanic

If the difficulty gets too hard because you've been kicking ass for too long, send in a poorly equipped and trained slave and he'll (usually) get ripped apart. Your opponents will then decrease in strength for a while because of the defeat.

Is there a tutorial? I clicked "Proceed with Tutorial" but it feels like it's just npcs barging into the ludus, and that's it.

Edit: It is with sadness that I have refunded the game, because it has a time limit. I know there is an experimental endless mode, but it is that, experimental. I may revisit this game again once the endless mode is final and polished.

But I really don't want to play with the time limit. I want more freedom to experiment.

1. architect to max everything, then fire him as already written
2. invest a lot in your trainer, he grants a lot of boosts for all fighters
3. invest more ressources into your best fighter since most fights are 1 vs 1.
4. armorer is nice to safe money
5. don't risk fights you are not sure you can win. all money, time and ressources spend for gladiators are much higher than the possible reward (coins, slaves sometimes worth, ressources x with 0). better think twice, learn to be patience.
6. take every possible easy fight to you. if you maxed one of the gladiators, send others to easy fights - they get a lot of exp.
6.2. use regional fights to improve your gladiators
7. on maxed against maxed gladiators, IDK how to win, its seems to me like gambling. but using cards to improve some fighting abilities are good

8. when upgrading gear, always upgrade until high cost upgrade gear appears. if you have the armorer, he will upgrade free of charge (i dont think the armorer upgrade time is correlated with the cost of the upgrade)

That is the DUMBEST ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ piece of advice you could ever give someone. EVER.

First of all.. most of the "tips" on this thread are turds.

Here's ALL you need to do.

1 - Get 15 Gladiators. Forget the Net morons, they're CRAP. Sword and Shield and 2 Handed Swords. I usually go 9 Sword/Shield and 6 Two handers.

1a - Set Doctore to autotrain, but open EACH Gladiator and push the Meditate Slider ALL THE WAY UP till it gets to 100. Once that's done, push the slider ALL THE WAY UP ON STRENGTH until HP is 200ish+. Then If it's a Sword/Sheild guy, set the sliders to weapon/defense to half each. If it's a 2 handed sword guy, set the slider to 100% weapon.

2 - Get the Architect, the Medicus, and the Armorer.

3 - CONSTANTLY buy ALL Food, Water, and Wine from Market. (Train yourself to do this every minute or so. Yes, it's a PITA.. do it anyway.)

3 - Have the Architect build 15 Palus, 15 Stones, and the Baths.. then fire his ass, replace him with the Priest/prayer dude.

4 - Research Free Upgrades for the Armor, turn on Auto Repair and Auto Upgrade.

5 - Do a couple of the "quick" upgrades to the medicus. Once you have 15 gladiators, standard "healing" isnt enough with this game.. you NEED the healin boosts the bath house, the medicus and the prayer dude provide.

6 - Use Doctore to rush research dismemberment, and Wolf Courage. Then research anything else you want. Honestly, there's enough time to research everything if you want.. so go nuts.

7 - Upgrade your gear as often as possible. Dont worry about low funds, money comes quick. SO much so that I honestly have over a couple thousand on the last day.

8 - The LAST DAY, Set HALF of your gladiators free. Yes, including those badass super geared awesome guys. Not all of them.. you'll know which are awesome and which arent. Divide them in HALF (by skill/level.) .. set HALF FREE!!!

9 - (and this is why the above poster is an idiot.) - At the end, The first like 8-10 slaves YOU SET FREE are your ONLY defense... now realize you've done nothing but set free a bunch of worthless turds.. yeah, you lose. You're welcome.

MISC REAL Pro Tips -

The Higher your rep with legate and magistrate, the better the rewards are for scheduled matches. Wine stockpiles in the thousands for me by endgame.. dont bother getting stingy with it. Bribe those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

A HAPPY Gladiator has BETTER stats than a content one.. give em a coin if they are anything other than happy.. cheers em right up. (If they are severely injured, no amount of money will impove their mood till they heal.)

You'll quickly notice that the "regional matches" are ghetto AF. I used 1 level 200 gladiator and wiped the floor with all of them within a week. Once you realize this... cash becomes a joke unless you overspend.

WASD and L/R Mouse Button to Save Gladiators that surrender. YOU MUST USE ALL BUTTONS OR THEY DIE. Mouse alone wont work "CLICK TO SAVE" is a lie.. mash buttons!!

Exhibition Fights are a FANTASTIC way to level up gladiators. Go to em often. Just make sure you have prepared.

You'll occasionally come across a certain type of match, where it's 5v5 ... 1v1 at a time. I IMMEDIATELY skip these matches. The rep hit is nullfied with a few wine.. and since the game always seems to put their highest level vs your lowest level... yeah.. skip them.

SELL EVERYTHING aside from the 15 Gladiators. No Lions, No Carts, No Horses, No big dudes.. sell em all. Worthless.

Do the above, and you'll win every game.

I set 25 average skill, good uniform gear slaves free and had all 25 turn up to defend me :calltoarms:, so you're talking out your whazoo mate. :cow:

Or you can just keep messing around until you get the 250% damage curse card that makes your guy half health. Half health doesnt matter when you hit for 1200-2500 pts. Crunch.
