No, only the upgrades the architect gives you will stay after you fire him.

damn. so obviously you have the faber and the architect but who do you take as your 3rd employee? the priest guy seems pretty good but the educator's attack bonuses seem really strong.

I always take the Educator first, he has some things that decrease training times, hasn't he?

yes but the sarcedos occasionally upgrades weapons armor and skills. also the blessing of juno auto heals your gladiators so they can train and heal at the same time. and i've been playing while finishing this comment and that auto heal is actually really nice. i don't have to spend several days healing my guy and can instead stack up his skills even more.

also the faber auto upgrading stuff combined with the sarcedos also occasionally upgrading means my guys are constantly getting better gear without me needing to purchase it myself. it's pretty nice

This post pretty much sums up why tenure exists for professors...

the bard is also a choice for reducing training times, he may also on occasion upgrade your glads weapons, i normally start with a architect educator and sacredos then switch the architect out for the bard to increase training speeds even more
decent training>gear saving money>losing fully geared glads

so i just did probably my easiest run and i started with medicus, educator, and architect. had architect until ~230 days left and switched to sacredos to finish it.

so the reason medicus and later on medicus + sacredos is so awesome is because your guys heal in a day or two while still training. it means you can go into the pits every time it's open. my guys were full health so often i did exhibition matches just to give them more training points.

it also gives you A LOT of cards. i was rolling in jupiter's blessings. cause pit fights and exhibition fights can drop cards. once you get an attack stance card on a murmillo with a zweihander it's free money. and the sacredos isn't even really necessary for the healing. if you want to go full money you can hire the agent instead and wager your own pit fights for a lot of gold. i just went with sacredos because he did increase healing but also upped weapons, strength, and the ai fighting skill.

just succesfully completed a run on normal dificulty

general strategy:
- weapon training over all best (so build atleast 10 palluses early on, and whatever ya want)
- i do not use a medic at all (i do build baths tho)
- starting with architect, sacredos, educator, lateron switching architect for blacksmith or what ever (for cheap upgrades)
- i use the early game to get some easy wins with ungeared slaves (literally just throw them weaponless in a fight, you will be amazed)
- set free 2 - 4 well geared and trained gladiators (maybe buy a few)
-set free about 10-x slaves with some combat training and a spear (range is bae)
- it is key to keep magistrate and legate happy, you will get alot of 1v1s or manyv1
- buy food wine and water every day. you can sell left overs at the end for extra gear upgrades.

as i said only tried these strats on mild and normal successes so far. (upping difficulty each time i win) im doing ai only runs might try mind control on the coming difficulties
