Guacamelee! 2

The game is ridiculously hard and it's a mistake
Seriously, the devs probably thought their core audience wants to play an insanely challenging game like IWBTG, Cat Mario or Boshy, in other words, troll masochistic games, no other explanation I find on this insanely hard and frustrating level design. I do have skills, I played both of two first Guacamelees, finished them, got 100% on one of them and it was fun both times. The sequel is not fun. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t frustrating game heading into wrong direction. Let the percentage of positive reviews do not fool you, devs, most of them are written in 1-2 hours of gameplay and usually they do not play any further, so they do not know what awaits them ahead. You've made a bad game, devs. I wanted a good metroidavania that requares skill, not some Flappy Bird inspired pack of finger-breaking encounters, that needs boring training, literally learning by heart of sequences with no chance of improvisation, like in bad Japan games, dozens of tries, broken nerves.

The only hard parts for me were the challenges to get the chicken keys and what was behind the important door, but those are completely optional. It's fine if you thought it was too hard, but don't be so agressive towards the devs because of it, specially making opinion statements as if they were facts. Many people, like me, believe this game was very well balanced in a way that makes it very fun.
(also, ♥♥♥♥ the "git gud", I agree it's not that simple)

The only real challenge this game has is the (awesome) DLC. Thats all. You cant blame developers for expecting the players to actually think and have some basic skills.

I think you are just bad. I just finished the game and had no problem.

To be fair, the last dungeon is trivialy easy with the unlimited pollo fly thing.

Platted the game. The difficulty felt perfect. It only really ramped up in the proving grounds to borderline crazy levels and for some cheevos but that's to be expected because these are super lategame optional challenges. I didn't mind it.

The only part that got ridiculous was the instakill pinata bat puzzles but that's a small nitpick at an otherwise close to perfect game.

It is hard but I notice the harder ones are for chests puzzle. The main walkthrough puzzle is kinda normal maybe a few need a bit more effort.
get good and quit crying. Simple.

Considering that this is a thread from January, looks like OP didn't git gut and did rage quit the game like a little b*tch because he does not have "defeat Salvador" achievement despite playing Guacamelee 2 for 39 hours.
Currently OP is playing games like Minion Masters and Pixel Puzzles Ultimate so I guess those are perfectly fine on his level of skill.
Unless he is way too busy raging on forums about how too hard for him those games are right now.

think I'm done with Guacamelee 2 for now. was really enjoying it and thought the STCE of the first game had a pretty reasonable difficulty curve up until the final boss, but there's a mandatory point late in the second temple where you're trapped in a confined room with an enemy that can spawn more enemies and that's only vulnerable to a specific special move (the headbutt, which is harder to pull off in the right direction than the other special moves) and it just feels absurdly cheap and based more on luck than skill. bleah

tbh this was pretty easy, I got 100% in 11 hours or so, just a couple key pieces were a bit tricky but that's it, I remember Guacamelee 1 being way more annoying (also the trials were harder)

Someone here who has beaten 1 says:
1 is fairer than 2, when you botch up it's your own fault. Meanwhile in 2:
"Oh, you are facing left and holding up to do a Pollo Shot up-left? Let me change to up-right and straight into spikes!"

Not only that, but any side challenge (including to get the good ending) were much easier on 1 and your punishment for mistakes were more often than not NOT SITTING THROUGH THE DEATH ANIMATION. 2 not only makes you sit through the "oops, you died!", but also adds too much precision.

The first one did upset me at some moments, but it was an overall enjoyable experience to do both bad and good endings! Meanwhile I couldn't bring myself to go through 2 once I found that dreaded lava rush to get a key piece.

It's harder then your typical game out there, but not as hard as other recent popular games like celeste, hollow knight, blasphemous, and the messenger. I played the first one as well back in the day. It could be my skills were lower, but I found the first one more challenging than than 2 with some very annoying challenge sections. Finished the main game on normal playing it off and on over a few days and just started the chicken egg challenges. I'll tell you straight up, this game is not for everyone and neither are the games I mentioned above. I finished all the games above except for celeste - which was just too insane for me (luckily you can finish it by changing some of the settings to see the story at least). That being said, I found most of the game fairly straightforward with some fun and balanced challenges where I had to figure out what to do or learn appropriate timing and reaction. It was also fun to see how they mixed up some of the mechanics while paying homage to other recent games like those mentioned above. There were certainly some challenging/frustrating sections, but less than the first game in my opinion. However, this is the type of game that is geared towards metroidvania types which are often fairly difficulty compared to typical platformers and other sidescrollng games.

Man... go to play with sand, at least a 3-year-old child knows that sand is easy and funny. You should try that.

On the other hand, I have been playing it AND IT IS FUN AND CHALLENGING. Your lack of reflexes is a shame.

I'm currently playing on Game Pass, close to the end, and it stopped being fun a few hours ago. The platforming became a trudging battle of attrition more than anything. I'm having no problem getting through it but it became a sequence of cheap ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deaths and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ muscle memory. It's still a fun story; I really appreciate the self-awareness of it and the tongue-in-cheek humor throughout (kinda like Dead Cells) but it's introduces less than fair puzzles and mechanics in the last half which, IMO, kills the momentum.

You GIT GUD punks can sod right the ♥♥♥♥ off, by the way. You toxic turds are what's wrong with online communities. You're a bunch of try-hards whose parents apparently didn't hug enough.

Git gud.

Seriously. Yet another one of those threads by someone who found something hard and had to complain that it "bad design" since they can't admit to themselves that they can't handle challenge.
