Playing as other characters? ( Single player )

Enjoying the game so far. Are all characters on an even playing field? Or do some of them almost offer an "easier mode?"

Each character is just a model swap for Juan. It changes nothing but looks and VO when making certain actions.

I do kinda wish there was different ability costiumes like in STCE.
