Do you really care that much about story telling and the story of a 2D plateformer?
And yes, I do roll my eyes frequently at the memes. However, I don't mind them quite so much as in Borderlands, as they're not presented in such an obnoxious way. You could still get a little snort-laugh out of the dialogue without knowing what the meme actually is (I had to look up "What are thoooose?" as I didn't even know it was a meme).
Having said that, I haven't made it to the infamous "Dank Cave" yet. That's going to be a make or break moment for me, I'm sure.
Let me complain about memes but then say...
IN CURRENT YEAR!!!
Guacameele is an oddly escapist series for me and the tone works for me.
Hiring actual writers?? You have no idea what Guacamelee is supposed to be!!
Go away!
OP doesn't own the game, so is clearly oblivious to the DANKEST timeline, which was hilarious (just passed though it myself).
