I hit play then it loads for a split second and crashes
3. Navigate to C:\Users\+Username+\Documents\dying light 2\out\settings and open 'video.scr' (make a backup just in case)
4. In the bottom half of the document you find 'RendererMode("d3d12")' -> change it to "d3d11"
If you can't open the notepad file download notepad++ and use that to edit the file, dont forget to save after
Honestly i'd just refund the game and go play DL1 given it is vastly superior to DL2
Exactly what happens with me too
Tried this, didn't work for me as it was already on DX11. It seemed to work for others though
You need to open the video.scr file via "notepad". Make sure when you open it through notepad that you select "all files" otherwise it won't work. For me, the DX11 setting was already there, so wasn't a relative fix unfortunately.
I had original set the .EXE file to run as administrator because i was having crashing issue. I have noticed after the patch even without administrator checked I no longer have those crashing issues.
Yeah, I took off the "run as administrator" and I stopped getting the error message.....however, the game STILL crashes at startup. Got a reply from the Devs but so far, no dice on their suggested fixes either.
Was hoping the hotfix patch released today would sort it out.....but alas, I'm still stuck in the same situation.
