how does blast mod work?

Im using a controller, says to use right trigger +A. I do that and nothing happens, i just swing like normal. What am i doing wrong? I keep trying to press them at the same time

Hold down the attack button like your charging up a heavy attack then hit A. Works for me, it's double jump I can't seem to work right.
