I have a few around 500 dmg. I'm lvl 8 and I have max venom, fling and some throw in the empowerment on top. I also use the +500 durability charm.

It depends on your level as well as other things. If you are high level just find a nice weapon around 300 damage base and with 2 or 3 mod slots. If you max out 2 or 3 mods as mentioned above it can reach close to 500. I'd recommend the mods I used on mine with previous post, but you can switch out the venom with something else if you like.

The Mods I am using are:
Tip: Maxed Spark Crit Mod
Shaft: Maxed Fling Crit Mod
Grip: Maxed Empowerment Mod
Charm: Korek

It does around ~570 damage last time I checked. It technically does double that when the Mods activate.
This is the best I have found so far.

highest i've had so far is like 480

nothing beats that 994 damage crossbow, though
