NVidia Driver 511.79 Issues
Hey there. Today I upgraded my GC drivers to 511.79. I´m experiencing some nasty stuttering. Anyone else got this problem?

Oh ♥♥♥♥... I'm about to find out. Mine is installing as we speak. :D

If you're on DX12 then this is normal for the game after a driver update due to shaders being compiled. They don't use pre-compilations to mitigate the stutters it seems.

Yes, that is why I rolled back to 472.12 (clean install) problem solved.

well these drivers are specifically for Warhammer 3, so i guess i'm not playing Dying Light 2 then.

I didn't have this problem before the last update. I see that many didn't either.

I don't think the problem is related to the driver but it doesn't hurt to test.

if it solves that way then the problem ends

It's worse since for me too

My game is also stuttering after installing the new driver. Downgraded back to previous driver but the game is still stuttering. What the ♥♥♥♥ happened?

511.79 did initally stutter for about 15 mins as I ran around letting it redo the shader cache. After that its been smooth. 1440p/75Hz, max, no ray-tracing on a 3070.

Same for me noticed random stutter after installing driver. So it should resolve itself by just playing more again? Sounds strange, if it is really "shader cache" then it should have stuttered in the beginning of the game also when starting it up for the first time without any "cache"? It has never stuttered like this for me before

People just talking out their ass about this shader cache or is it really the case?

Crazy. People use to(and still do for everything) blame AMD for its drivers, but it seems to be not exclusive at all. The studio has practically sold out to Nvidia for its support/control, everything should work for you guys that use team greens GPU's.

A lot of games usually do shader caching/optimising on their first launch. Driver updates can sometimes have optimisations for this too, so when you install a new driver a game will do it again.

Other games will do it as they are required. Which depending on hardware can be annoying, or unplayable. Usually they only do it once, so it should clear up after playing for a little bit.

Farcry 6 will do it on launch (PSO cache). Forza Horizon 3, 4 and 5 will say "optimising". Horizon Zero Dawn is the same, etc.

stick with the feb 1 (511.65) driver, the one that came out feb 14 (511.79) is bad, it gave me fps drops, stutters and hang ups also
