Leave the choice as before for the host, in co-op with a friend you can always come to a common agreement, just add saving progress
Sorry for my English, I'm talking about the fact that the choice in quests could still be made by the host, but the progress was still saved for all players
Or you can try different choices on 2nd playthrough
Not sure I buy multi-ending as an excuse, though. Why can't the players just share the same ending (and by extension, vote to share the same choices)?
Because the devs are lazy. It's quite evident with almost all interiors looking exactly the same.

If you want to coop through the story, just have the same guy host and everything is fine.
Where are you getting from that shared progression is much more widely accepted and demanded?
Those that scream the loudest aren't necessarily the majority.
And yeah, I was forced to use those workarounds in DL 1, glad I don't have to in DL 2.
I'm certain they won't "flip the switch" to change the way it works, but perhaps a toggle or something. Options are almost allways a good thing.
