The problem with Dying Light 2
To say I had huge expectations for this game is an understatement. I waited so long for this sequel and it let me down completely. instead of sticking to the original games formula, they pretty much turned into a Ubisoft game more similar to assassin‘s Creed. To the point players could no longer repair their own weapons and not having the scavenger hunt of searching for blueprints just killed the overall flow of the game. Compared to its predecessor it falls way short in almost every aspect and if they follow the same theme with the beast, that’s gonna be just as bad. They pretty much done everything the exact opposite in DL2 and that was a huge mistake and the truth is have they learned from this mistake ?? I guess we will find out if the same things follow and plague dying light the beast. You can bring back a fan favorite character, but if the world building and level design is not interesting or fun to explore then it won’t matter. It just blows my mind how different dying light 2 is from the first game.

Did you just play version 1.0 and called it quits? You can endlessly repair your weapon, instead of the silly 1-5 times in DL1 (unless you have a skill and get lucky so repairs don't cost a slot). You still have to hunt for weapon blueprints, and then you can upgrade them in a far more transparent process than in DL1. Sure, you can buy the blueprints you got from skill points in DL1, but you didn't have to scavenge those in DL1 either, so...???

Bro, why are you even here in a DL2 forum? Go love on DL1 over at its steam forum.

Got the game on pa5 when it released years ago and figured I give it another go on my new 4090 and the game has good graphics but it’s nowhere near as good as the first game not even close. Not all the guns in the world would fix this Ubisoft copycat

I played when it first released on pa5 and even with the new content added it’s still feels like an trash Ubisoft game

You like what you like and don't like what you don't like. Still, sounds like you've not given it much of a chance. And it still doesn't explain why you feel the need to come in here to lay down same hate three years after the game's release.

Lmfao no skills. Dying Light went from being one of the best games ever to nothing more than a Ubisoft copycat. It’s like all the employees that got laid off at Ubisoft got hired at this company and believe me it shows. They used the same voice actor to voice multiple characters and they all sound the same. Techland has fallen down from being one of the best Developers to one of the worst. Dying light 2 has some good qualities and it’s fun but it’s nowhere close to what the original game did in almost every aspect and we also can’t forget about the story expansion that we still haven’t gotten for dying light 2. if tech land is going to repeat the same things with the beast they’re gonna be in big trouble if they think all they gotta do is bring in the original voice actor and it’s gonna make everything better. It won’t especially if they keep everything, the exact same in terms of blueprints weapon crafting. The best needs to be more than just bringing in Kyle Crane and using the exact same thing as dying light 2. There’s a reason the first game sold over 20 million and it’s sequel didn’t even come close.

Bro. You slow? The Beast IS that second expansion we were promised and you're getting it for free if you have the ultimate version. And of course there will be changes! It's set mostly in woods and fields so the parcouring is going to be a lot different. There will be cars to drive (and maintain). Fewer safe zones, etc.

You mean extras? That happens in literally every game. DL1 too. It's far cheaper to have someone throw their voice a bit for four lines than hire someone for them. I've voiced for indie stuff and I've always been brought in for multiple characters.

In my experience, DL1 is the inferior game, but that might simply be because it didn't connect with me. I don't get the hype around Crane at all, the whole world is brown and a snooze-fest, the weapon repair bs was annoying, the story and characters were far shallower to me, the grappling hook eliminates parcour; you can just stand still and pull yourself across the map, and I literally fell out of my chair laughing when the final battle was a QTE. And don't get me started about the amount of times I have died because Volatiles clipped through doors/walls/barriers of any kind into an area they shouldn't be able to get into, or bombers spawning right on top of you in indoor locations. Oh, and let's not forget clipping through the map so hard that you land in the water below the map *often*.

I have PLENTY of gripes with DL2. If I hear 'Aidenbabaiden' one more time, I am going to punch a gnome, 'Volatile mode' needs to die in a fire, hundreds of deaths thanks to grappling hooks not connecting or blowing myself to bits from a mile away with a Molotov, always-spawn Goons being unkillable for the longest time, I couldn't care less about Mia if I tried, the Bazaar people are thoroughly unlikable, _Hakon_... but it's a gorgeous game, with great parcouring and great verticality. It has almost double the side quests of DL1 (52 vs 95, although not all are available to you), a much better and more intricate leveling system that means everything you do is useful in some way for something else (killing zombies gets you mutation trophies that let you upgrade blueprints, which allow you to level faster and gain skill points easier, etc.), more challenges, bigger map, paraglider, etc. etc. etc.

And your mileage obviously varies. Which is fine. I'm just sharing some perspective.

And with that, I wave my troll-be-gone wand at you and won't engage with you further. Have a great life. I'll see you on the The Beast forum where you'll no doubt continue to share how much you enjoy life.

I'll say it right now. DL2 is better than the original. DL1 had neat details with damaged weapons over time, and zombies would watch the sunset, but beyond that it was kinda lame. There is a reason that the game was praised for it's grappling hook, because it cut down on a lot of bs. Let's not forget that the game ends with a QTE fight boss. The Following DLC was long stretches of empty space in a game with a parkour system. A car that broke down every time you sneezed on it, and a story that really did not need to be told. DL1 was fun, but DL2 is better.

I swear every time Dying Light 1 is mentioned, people literally bust one on top of it, lol! Calm down, no need to get super excited over it, keep your little johnny in your pants, lol!

I'll be honest. The game isn't amazing. Its mid. It's buggy and crashes and yet I still feel compelled to complete the story just enough to keep playing. Graphics and optimisation definitely arent amazing. I have to use flashlight ALL THE TIME even in the outdoors during the day. The parkour on this title feels unnatural at all. Tripping over trash bags all the time or sliding on a sloped surface instead of sprint jumping to the next ledge over. Missions that bug out entirely... Thankfully theyre side missions. Perma grappling hook even when using something else (have to restart game to fix this).
Perma mission objective waypoint change when using flashlight. (again having to restart the game)
Getting disconnected from online services all the time.
When joining other player sessions, infected are just floating at the slightest bit of desync and this remains permanent so if doing a coop quest you have to just quit on the player you're helping because of this very common bug.

Its a disaster honestly. Hopefully the devs won't bring the same horrible bugs to Beast when it gets released. I think this time I will wait for 3 years and see what youtube, reddit and other websites say about it. I can't keep making the same mistakes of wrongly misplaced trust on broken jenk. (Hopefully others are learning the same, too)

edit: just completed it and don't see any reason to continue.

ok from replaying ti through i can clearly see some massive issues 1 of being the multiplayer its so poorly set up and ways to join randoms just is not fun at all and the voice chat is soo bad and only having open mc is next level crazy. so much of the game is made around multiplayer loops yet its just horrible to que up and find people and with games like lethal company having full proximity voice chat it makes this look silly. next the side quest writing is just horrible i think the game suffers from being made in the era of woke and any quests that are made to be kinda funny are not and all the dark humour falls flat.next is the false choices in dialog honestly most times to get through a convo we are meant to just click for the sack of clicking its so annoying. getting stuck on terain and npc`s i want to literally stab every NPC in every town coz of how much i get stuck on them! missions like helping someone get a tinder date in the apocalypse can some of a lot of the problems with he games writing lol

In the 3 years since this game came out, you still have yet to learn to use paragraphs?

I had such high expectations for this post...

🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂 I’ll tell you why dying light 2 took so long to develop because they was trying to implemented loot boxes in the game and it shows. The reloaded edition you do jobs for this guy to get a single gun and then have to keep doing these jobs to earn more and along with that you earn a random box which is a loot box. Open your eyes. the reason this game took so long is because they were gonna loot box the ♥♥♥♥ out of us until the loot box crash happened & it all stopped and it ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up their game development and delayed the game until they pulled it out. that’s why it sucks and is very similar to a Ubisoft game and will never be as good as the original tech land doesn’t give a ♥♥♥♥ about the fans because they were originally gonna loot boxes and cost us money to buy weapons. Just look at how the game is built. You have to go to vendors to do things in the original game you could build craft repair while out in the field killing zombies
