I have my suspicions on all this and I've come down to the it is the engine being used. Having blind spots sucks esp when things get a bit crazy but, all I can say is don't turtle and keep moving.
My biggest issue wasn't motion sickness or anything either. The FOV was just way to tight and stopped me from being able to see where I was running or I would get hit in the side from infected that I couldn't see. Once I raised it I was able to both run and fight more effectively.
plus the wider FOV makes it feel like you're running a lot faster and I like that.
