Ballista Arrows Farming?

Just bought the ballista bow and then learned in ONLY uses ballista arrows. The store price for buying the arrows is too steep. 300 runes is fine, but also requiring 1 token is too much.

I am not really interested in having a weapon for special occasions or that is not sustainable.

Is there are way of farming ballista arrows more efficiently?

Short of modding the game, there's no way to amass huntress tokens besides doing the bounties. The ballista is incredibly overpowered since it can stunlock any large infected, and can even ragdoll Tyrants as if they were regular volatiles.

The good thing is that the bounties are all easy as hell, although some of them take a while e.g. killing x amount of plaguebearers, killing x amount of renegades wielding 2h weapons, etc.

If you do the weekly bounties for her (which again are all incredibly easy), you can very quickly level up and earn those tokens.

Each bundle of arrows give you 40, so just a handful of tokens can nearly fill your ammo inventory unless you never carry any other projectile. It's also hard to imagine that you'd quickly burn through a couple hundred before you can buy some more, unless you just refuse to carry a regular bow for anything that the ballista would be massive overkill for.

doing normal huntress mission awards you plenty of ballista arrows too. You don't have to do elite missions

Double this, this... :P
The mission itself takes just 5-7 min. with just a little practise you will speed run it in less than 5 min. also you could complete the most dailies (Hunter & Nightrunner) just playing the mission witch hunt too. So it's Win/Win!
