Best Way to Gather 5000 Mutation Samples?

Is there a better way of gathering mutation samples for Harper? These 5000 are gonna take some time, and just for 1000 points to the next level. Not to mention some special infected give a tiny bit of mutation samples, I was hoping for more. This grind feels like a chore.

I just did this last night. I was Rank 4 and hit rank 6 doing this. So outside the bazaar at night if you leave the bazaar by walking out the way the craftmaster is facing, you get a nice little UV zone with a couple barriers on each side. I literally just baited volatiles and virals there for a couple nights in a row and racked up a huge kill count. If you keep dipping out of the UV zones, the chase keeps going and virals keep spawning, so they just keep running into your melee weapons. The volatiles are dumb and like to jump into the UV zone, so you just get behind them and whack them to death.

My Inhibitors are level 7 or 8 for health and stamina, and I had a decently level scaling night machete that did enough damage to wither the volatiles down quickly enough. Took a couple of nights, was able to farm so many small and large trophies that I actually ran out of medium trophies while upgrading blueprints and weapons.

Yeah, this way will work much better, it's better to just do this, rather than hunt for special infected.. It's so grindy and wastes so much time, when you could just gather the most at once. I don't mind grindy games, but when it's too grindy, that's when I need a better solution.
