PvP nothing, CrossPlay, devs want to but not in roadmap, maybe in the future. That likely means never gonna happen.

You can play together with others, just not against them.
Which is good, because it would be pay to win in that case.

Not every game needs pvp, and not every game was designed for it.
This game is one of them.

Without PvP, cross play, mobs that scale, the ability to make a distress call (remember being able to do that?), decent sync in multi player.

How many people are playing right now?? Game has been dead and I'm looking for reasons to come back.

I'm personally not a fan of pvp, so games like battle royals, I avoid. If it's cod or battlefield, then maybe.

Maybe. But that's an you-issue.
Microtransactions don't harm the game, if you're playing solo.
Items there are are just QoL stuff, but are not needed in order to complete the Game.

And considering the game's age and all of those updates it has gotten since release...
somwhere needs to come the money from to maintain the game, right?

Oh, and it's actually miltiplayer. Just not PvP, and thats a good thing.

OG dying light had that one pvp mode, but it was really hit or miss if you had any real pvp or someone whipped out a modded ahh weapon that one shot whoever was playing as the infected
