Immunity timer question
Heya, just a question on this. I noticed a circle with a skull going down and it told me I had to use mushrooms. I had about 8 of those. Chug them, but it only restores like 2 little bars or something and the timer runs out very very quickly. I think it ran out in 1-2 minutes or something. Timer went to 0 while I was exploring a dark area (and died to some big OP dude), but after using mushrooms when the timer was at 0 it didn't add more time. So I was just ignoring it.

Read online that if it runs out it turns you into a zombie. So I turned the timer off in the options so I can just play and enjoy instead of being annoyed the entire playthrough. However after turning it off it keeps telling me my immunity is low. How does this work? The game doesn't explain.

What the hell are you talking about? The game tells you very plainly, through long-ass cinematics, that you're infected and need constant UV exposure to suppress the infection. It's why you had to get a Biomarker bracelet in order to get into the Bazar.

It's a core game mechanic. The option in the HUD menu to hide it is just to remove the on-screen indicator, but you are not disabling the mechanic by doing this. This is just for anyone who wants to play with it off because, by the time you reach endgame, your immunity timer is almost long enough to last an entire night, and you can easily replenish it at any moment by either using Immunity inhalers, or better yet, simply dropping a UV lightbar at your feet, which will restore immunity and create a temporary safezone.

tl;dr

pay more attention to what the game tells you, if you don't like the mechanics, refund ASAP

Ok so can I turn off the whole "turn into zombie thing" at night? It's super annoying. I just randomly turned into a zombie at night for only being out a few minutes. It's not good enough for the enitre night. At least not for me. Immunity timer starts at 5 minutes. So just exploring is super short. Do I need to go to UV lights while I'm trying to figure out where to go? I need a lot more time to do that. I'm new at the game so having a 5 minute timer is no time at all.

No you cannot. Its a core game mechanic. You can either adapt to it or stop playing I guess. I dont see another option besides maybe modding it out.

It is only the entire premise of the game?

You will turn into a zombie unless you are in UV light. Watch the meter going down and then step into some UV light and watch the meter go back up. Mushrooms only give a small amount of time back and you use them to craft immunity boosters that last longer.

Go play Dying Light 1 until Techland releases Dying Light 3 with no biomarker telling you to stand in a UV area.

Hm, well I cannot refund it, because I alreayd have too much time in it. So I'll have to deal with it I guess. Jeez, who on earth thought making a game tedious was a good idea?

At this point I'll just avoid playing at night. Don't have enough stamina nor know my way around to clear a chase if I get spotted. I just die multiple times at night which is a waste because I lose EXP that way so there's 0 benefit for me at this point to play at night.

Also, but this is more of an actual gripe, the game has some bugs when it comes to climbing and such. At multiple instances I got stuck trying to scale a small hill. Ran out of stamina and my only option was to take 30 seconds to slowly slide to the bottom. This was maybe 4 feet high. So any normal human being would be able to run up this thing without much effort. Also, get stuck climbing things and hovering between parts without actually climbing and just drain stamina. Feels the first game was a lot smoother in this regards.

Anyway, I'm guessing things get easier when you get more skills and such. But the game really pushes you to play at night. Like everything is "do this at night!!" while I got no skills or tools to do so. And daytime is filled with zombies, and when you kill 1 then a few fast zombies show up. There's very little room to just explore like in the first game. Oof.

Anyway. Just venting frustration.

Ah, I'll do this then. Immunity boosters are really expensive. Don't think I have the plans to craft boosters though.

The immunity timer isn't even tedious when you're on top of it always, and you're paying attention to it. Just go find inhibitors, those will increase the time too.

That's exactly what you're meant to do. You don't have max health/stamina/skills at the very beginning, so you work your way up to that. Like I said, by the time you get towards the end of the game and into New Game+, the max immunity timer is like 18 minutes, which alone is enough to last for most of the night, without even taking UV sources into consideration.

Was only able to find 1 inhibitor so far just exploring. The others are locked behind a night time boss fight that I honestly don't feel like doing atm.

Yea, but that's end game. Like I said, I'm just starting and the game is egging me on to play at night only. Every bit of gameplay involved tells me to do something at night. Which is just impossible atm. So I found that very odd.

I didn't like the idea at first either, I hated that they gave me a time limit to explore at night or in dark places if I didn't have an immunity booster or blue mushrooms.

But the first night I realized that it didn't matter, because I wasn't going to go out at night to explore anything anymore after everything I saw.

In any case, the more inhibitors you get, the more time they will give you to explore at night. In any case, if you have ultraviolet bars and you throw them on the ground when you stand on them, you recover, so it is important to take that into account in addition to exploring everything during the day. the map and get the resting places and mills.

just throw a UV flare and the TIMER will RESET !!! good lord have YOU notice anything
