Video settings not applying after multiple attempts

every time i try to change the video settings, they just revert back whenever i close the menu (i am saving them, they just don't get applied)
also happens when i want to turn off raytracing options and restarting the game is needed

Find this file in your documents folder:

Documents\dying light 2\out\settings\video.scr

and make sure it isn't set to read-only.

it wasn't

Try making a backup of it and then deleting the original so the game will rebuild the file next time you start it up. If that still doesn't work then you might need to contact their tech support. I haven't heard of this bug happening recently, but it was definitely a well-known bug back in the first year or so after release.
