yes a lot actually. and volatiles were everywhere. just as frequent as DL2 actually.
From what I remember, you could get around at night, and not start a chase. There may of been a few in one spot, but damn, it's like Techland is trolling us.
you likely spammed survivor sense (something thats also in DL2 btw) to avoid them

funnily enough Dl2 has much more diverse mobility and stealth options compared to 1 so in reality it should be easier to avoid them.

I mean aussiegg made a whole video showcasing how easy it is to avoid them using zero skills or items by crossing the entire map at night without ever getting spotted or using stealth.

:/

I mean, wouldn't you think someone like that who made such a video, spent hours learning how to? I mean, yes, obviously, but it takes times to WANT to know how, I mean, I do, but my mission area shouldn't be crowded up inside my butt hole.
When one volatiles agro soon there can be about 20 after you and there is more of them than those normal zombies running after you
So, far Techland has listened to those important, not even the Forums. They do some times read these, but to ask for less Infected, they just simply ignore it cause those important wanted this.
This is the same issue with volatiles in the first Dying light. You get so many it just gets annoying, any sound and bang you get swarmed. I ended up having to install a mod to reduce the frequency they spawned otherwise you never get anything done.
Too many, it's just silly at this point. You like this? Maybe they should just tone it down and give people the option to increase the amount via a slider or diffulty thing whatever. Having 4 volatiles get stuck on eachother, interfering with level 1 missions, interfering with GRE anomaly fights or breathing down your neck when you're about to rest on a rooftop is just stupid.

yeah I like the advertised dangerous nights to be dangerous. one should not have the freedom to chillax on a rooftop in the middle of the night in a game advertised as being flooded with infected out to get you during the night.

volatiles are the apex hunter of the infected. perhaps dont act like prey if you dont want to get caught.

Not sure what you're trying to say. The rooftops are places where you can rest. It's in the game, and having multiple volatiles there is just lame. It's not immersive, it's not good. It's just stupid.

Advertised? I'm not sure what you're refering to. The game litterally tells you the world is more dangerous in the daytime when you rest till daytime.

n-no? the trailers AND the game BOTH actively say MULTIPLE times that nights are dangerous days are safer.

gameplay wise this is ALSO true. rooftops are generally safer but not always. more volatiles are on the ground floor than the rooftops but they are capable of running and climbing so of course they are gonna be on rooftops too here or there.
When the game was announced years back, it literally tells you in the trailer, survivors moved to the rooftops to avoid the infected, what part of that didn't you get, mind what Techland doesn't get? How does having Volatile's on roofs make sense for how the lore is supposed to go? It's like they changed their minds and are making a brand new game, upon updates.

I swear the trailer said the roofs were supposed to be a safe place?

have you not played DL1? volatiles are more than capable of getting on rooftops and always have, even 2 years ago volatiles WERE still on rooftops lmao. they just didnt roam. they spawned in mid chase ON ROOFTOPS. they have always and will always be capable of being on rooftops.

survivors moved to the rooftops to avoid the majority population of infected, as well as having a safe place away from chemicals that are infecting the ground. yknow. there is a REASON that every single safehouse has a ton of UV lights surrounding it.

gee i wonder what volatiles only weakness is. hmmm.

I have played the first game, I'm just saying what I saw in the very first trailer. I ain't trying to start a fight, I don't want that. I'm just trying to get on the same level, but it seems we all have seen different things, leading to misunderstandings.

True regarding the rooftops, but only those that are protected by UV light, virals and volatiles still have access to them. Though yeah, if my memory serves me right there were less volatiles on rooftops in DL1?
Yes, there weren't that many on the roofs, mainly on ground level, but they CAN climb up, so that's not entirely wrong. Plus it was dark af, so getting to a safe place was terrifying.

There were less volatiles in general. I think they were more dangerous as well. I just killed six in a row at level 4. No way were you able to do such a thing in DL1. Around the spot I was camping there were 5 on patrol and after killing them they just respawned. I think this was similar in DL1, but there were less of them and they were tougher.
