That's the whole point of it. You are the prey when the sun goes down.

Just started a New Game on Hard with my Brother and holy fck do the Weapons suck balls. A million Hits and Enemies still dont die. Feels like Doom 2016 with how you have to kill everything with the same animation over and over again. Volatiles alone wouldnt be that bad but paired with those Hazmat morons who spit at you with their Homing Projectiles that magicaly turn at 90 Degrees in mid air and still hit you are a Joke.

Here is what I believe needs to happen to help this. Add the old style camouflage back.

Find a zombie and kill it. Smear zombie guts on you (material free). Move undetected for a short time until you can single out another zombie for a neck snap and rinse and repeat.

Or make the volatiles not respawn unless you trigger a chase. Then you can kill them silently and clear an area.

is there an actual way to silently kill one on Hard? It takes at least 10 hits for me (didn't really count) - so it always starts a chase.

you gotta use tools to your disposal, UV grenades, throwing knives, hell even fire works can distract them a little bit.
Night time isn't mean to be easy, its not meant to be a walk in the park, even in the first game its meant to be seen as "you've got massive balls going out at night" because of what exactly is out at night, so if you're going out.
prepare lmao.

in the first dying light night time WAS a walk in the park. and the volatiles were able to be fought without having to run from hundreds. then in the 2nd game its just "oh yea ♥♥♥♥ you gl tryna do night missions ya ♥♥♥"

The whole point of night is that it is significantly more dangerous. lmao
