Well they didn't actually fire him for nothing, regardless of if he was or wasn't at fault even if they believed he didn't do it, keeping him on would have just been a headache due to the on going case anyway, it's a no win situation for the company.

I don't think that is true. Keeping him would of benefited the project and the communities good will. Nobody thought he should of been fired because there was no evidence behind those allegations. It was literally just two girls saying he did this with nothing to back it up. I mean even the Head writer for Techland thought it was dumb and he left before the game was finished. Techlands higher ups are brain dead when comes to making good decisions. Don't get this twisted.

I guess that could work but only if the false accusers have to face the same consequences of being found guilty for the crime claimed.

But he wasn’t even charged with a crime, they just made a claim backed by no evidence and he was forced to sue them for libel, huge difference and one I’m sure if anyone was on the other end of might start to feel differently about having your life destroyed by someone seeking vengeance for a friends bad break up.

I personally don’t think we can have a functioning society where claims like these are taken as gospel off the bat.

Unfortunately that is the society we do live in although can't say it's out of nowhere, sexual assault and exploitation is ripe within the entertainment industry so if the claims did turn out to be true, can't say i would be surprised whatsoever.

However this of course hurts not just the people being falsely accused but making it hard for actual victims to come out.

This whole thing is entirely ridiculous. While this thread is focusing more on the societal and cultural aspect to this situation, which deserves serious and thorough debate...

I would also like to acknowledge the fact that a company HIRED someone to write a story for them that consisted of 5 "Paths" each of which branched and had over a hundred quests each. Then scrapped the entirety of the work at the whim of two individuals without any thought of how this would affect their products future. Could you imagine if someone I don't know found the cure for cancer, or created a renewable energy source of limitless potential but then were accused and society never benefited from their contribution because it was deemed "evil" or "dirty" by association.

IMPACTING PLAYER EXPERIENCE in said work effectively making the initial marketing false advertising. If I had been aware of this crazy stuff before hand I wouldn't have purchased the game without hesitation at release, because these were warning signs.

Anyways back to the cultural/society part of this topic, this sort of stuff is completely unacceptable not just because of the loss of wages, and destruction of one's career. But also because it makes everyone else walk on eggshells in our day and age the rules are constantly changing and remained undefined and blurry. Thus it stifles creativity and the rights of people to live their lives free of hatred (fake retribution), and devalues the real victims.

All I can end this with is that this stuff needs to get reexamined and balanced back into reality pronto, we cannot let people destroy innocent people's lives... But what do I know I'm just a nobody living in the "hater's" world, which clearly must bend to their every will.
