Why does the game look so dark?
I feel like the contrast in this game is pumped way too high.
Sure, night time can be dark, seems reasonable if there is no light source around... But during sunlight?

This is just very distracting. The sun is out. Light bounces off of surfaces and lights up the surrounding area, or so it's supposed to. This is just way too dark.

Like, one side of this building is literally pitch black.
Is this normal? Is this how the game is supposed to look?

I can't with with this.

This is a problem we all have and Techland seems like isn't interested in addressing this issue at all.

The only way to workaround this problem is to increase your game brightness, which will:
1) Make the screen washed out
2) Make the nights too bright

Techland did "fix" the brightness of the night: they renamed an filter from "Normal + Dark" to "Darker Nights". However, because this is a filter, it dims all light sources and looks terrible.

The problem with DL2 is lighting itself, and that doesn't seem like Techland is interested in fixing. At least not for now.

Yeah it's a little weird in some parts of the map at certain times during day or night.. One area I was in was pitch dark, then about 3-5min later the sun must have pulled up and it was okay.

Sometimes at night without the flash light on you can't see anything lol.. which I guess makes sense idk. Still a little odd.

Oh, I was greeted with this at the beginning, too. Stopped bothering me after several hours. Now I can't be surprised to a random biter walking out of a shadow at me while I am running past them all. :lunar2020confidentrooster:

Yeah. They tell us to adjust gamma but then various parts of the game stay way too dark like indoors where a lot of cutscenes happen and you can't even see characters faces (you can turn on the flashlight during cutscenes but that's so ridiculous). Then it's literally unplayable in some scenes but if you increase gamma so you can see anything, some areas get washed out and way too bright. They should improve the gamma tool and its recommendation and fix the lighting issues.
