Is it me or are volatiles now unkillable at night?
Before this patch just 3 shots from my crossbow can kill a volatile now they don't seem to be taking any damage at all. Playing on normal difficulty, LL13. Devs, please reduce the volatile HP. Not to the prepatch HP but maybe like 50% to 100% more HP instead of this gamebreaking 1000% HP.

I am actually perfectly fine with the volatiles coming out at night. Was wondering why this wasn't the case at release. But to make them nigh unkillable really ruins the game for me, and probably for a lot of other casual players. Thank god I have already upgraded all the stuff I want pre-patch. My heart goes out to all the new players or those who have created new saves, because now it is impossible to farm trophies at night with tanky volatiles everywhere

my char is lvl7 , a volatile takes 80% of my health in one hit......
and requires 8 hits to die.....
and they are everywhere

Volatiles are easy as heck. You can perma stun lock them with a rank 1 UV bar then just melee attack them

Use UV on them and you won't have any problems. Now the night experience is exactly what it should be. Volatiles should be dangerous opponents and there should be a lot of them. Otherwise, what's the point if you can walk around at night as well as during the day and one-shot everyone with a bow?

Have a look at my new guide - in chaper 6 is a way to kill them without starting a chase

Yeah, the game is hilarious. Basically you're up ♥♥♥♥ creek without UV lights. Which is fine because they're just so easy to get. I'm less "oh, night time is hard just like it should be" and more "why did they bother putting 10,000 volatiles on the map that are unkillable without a UV light?" There's such a thing a subtlety, and this just misses the mark. Never should have clicked that button, the game was actually better the other way lol

this was exactly the tactic i used in DL1 for farming volatiles. but i don't remember volatiles being this tanky even back then

They are killable without UV light. It is still relatively easy, not every game has to be a walk in the park.

If I had to choose between before and after the new night experience, I'd choose after, but I think it needs refining some..the volatiles are a tad too powerful now and I can imagine this makes it very difficult for new players.

I mean it should be. You should have a big problem to take out an apex predator yourself early on. You should just run to safety when there are more of them. You are hunter during a day and a prey during a night, but once you hit endgame and all skill and items you take a group of them without even using UV lights.

So I just tried... this is what I did:

On Normal, without event, Tried using Polestar with legend upgrade, 16 hits... Volatile would not go down... Nor any healthbar showed up...

Used a Legendary Gravedigger ace with 3 legendary mods... 8 hits... It did die, but no healthbar appeared...
For reference, I used to be able to kill a volatile with 2-3 headshots using my polestar and I would always be able to see a healthbar...

I feel like this is a bit too tanky (especially when I'm getting quests to go kill volatiles during a lvl 4 chase) on normal, especially since I'm getting downed in like 1-2 hits... Additionally, I wouldn't mind if this if this were for the event only or on hard mode... but I kinda just wanna have fun, farm a few bounties now and then, maybe some uncommon trophies to upgrade things and having it permanently be like this has kinda killed it for me...

My biggest issue in all of this is that a week ago, I was having fun throwing the game on every now and then, but with a single update the game has taken a huge left turn in the difficulty department. I don't want to have to guess what kinda game I'm starting up every time I start the game...

the health bar thing is because they kinda resetted your settings so you're gonna have to re-enable them. but yes the main issue is that volatiles are now too tanky. they have like 10x HP compared to before. seriously damage sponges are just pure lazy game design

Volatiles just ignore legend levels upgrades and weapons attributes like (Damage while full health, Damage at night, ect..) Only base damage works, so if your weapon deals 600 damage, its gonna deal same ammout, not like before. Tested with modded legend upgrades, even for example, 10k points on damage with one handed skill tree you deal same ammout like without legend rank upgrades.
