I used to like night roaming and Stealth killing a Howler.. when I could manage it..
.. but this is insane.. its like DL The following.... in the city at night.. its crazy.. I cant even get away from the windmill before Im spotted..
So,,,, Have Volatiles replaced Howlers.. at least with a Howler you can Stealth kill it, even at Lvl 1 .. but this is silly..
In the original DL, I used to venture far at night because I could see the Volatiles and use the Grappling Hook but In DL2 I dont like to keep hitting "scan" every 5 secs.. it spoils immersion.
I dont like my games easy and I like a good challenge.. but DL2 story and progression is centred around night quests that only appear at night and can only be finished at Night, where as DL The Following was centred around day time quests and exploring and the night time was all about pure survival, but now DL2 you cant quest without dying too much..
Come on TL.. this isnt a Souls game.. give uis an option to turn on and off the new Volatile night content..
haha.. everybody is scared of the dark.. and what hides in the corners of your room..
Well if you like to play that way.. thats great for you .. play it and enjoy it your way, but they should make it an option. for those of us who like to play a different way to what you do....
So its not about being SCARED of the dark or the game.. its about how reactive they are and how many Volatiles they are in one place at one time..
Enjoy :)
Ah Brilliant.. I didnt realise that about your flashlight or going into buildings.. thanks for the tips as well.. Its been years since I played DL1 and The following.. so ill try these..
Thanks .. Appreciated :)
You mean every single person who played DL1 and liked how that nighttime ran, only to join DL2 and hate its static nighttime issue?
It wasn't a minority, it was a MAJORITY.
However, the changes they made were a bit too much that even the people who WANTED THESE CHANGES can't compensate for how difficult things are now. DL1 had dynamic nights- basically meaning that roaming and reactive VOLATILES were what drove night time to be a time of fear- up until you reached high Legend Levels: and after that you had the ability to change the difficulty from 'Normal - Hard - Nightmare', with Nightmare Volatiles being the ones you DO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH.
They didn't take into consideration that some people DO LOVE BEING SCARED- but need a balancing to where they have routes to take to avoid being seen or heard. It isn't here in this update. Roaming Volatiles is a very very nice start, but reducing their health across the board (lest you get chase level 4 like a dummy) would help allow people who are farming legend levels (like in the original game) and making it so the volatiles will react to you RUNNING NEARBY, making noises NEARBY, or just generally being NEARBY (really close) should have them react and 'track' where you are based on your GENERAL location- like in DL1.
This update is a very very VERY nice step towards what the large MAJORITY of people who played both DL1 and 2 wanted- but it will take a few updates and changes to both AI and Volatile stats to make it a little more engaging and not infuriating.
That being said, I'm legend level 250 and REALLY don't care as I play the game as a stealth-hoe anyways. (Played DL1 without HUD, music, only at night and without survivor sense on Nightmare difficulty after I reached 250 LL).
TL:DR - Update is really good on paper, but poorly researched and executed. Considering how Techland actually cares about the Dying Light franchise, they will inevitably listen, so give them time. Don't whine claiming that the community didn't want this type of update; as they did. Since release. Whine over the fact they overshot what the community asked for and didn't reflect on what made "Dynamic Nights" better than "Static Nights" while also taking into consideration that new players (or those lower in LL) need to have a method to reach a tier where they don't have to face a Volatile on ROOFTOPS every 5 seconds. Wasn't like that in the first game, shouldn't be like that on the second.
revert patch, add new night mode as an option or a harder difficulty
everyone is happy
EZ MODE IS GONE.
TIME TO GET GUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Or time to uninstall and go back to DL1 and bying DI2 until this is fixed. :)
Agreed, my only issue is their absurd amount of health, maybe something specific to counter them or a weakness to something, but just placing a 10x health multiplier feels cheap.
