Dying Light 2 is the first time I literally do not care, for several reasons.
The way dialogue options/decisions yield choices and events seems haphazard - sometimes they're trying to subvert what you expect, sometimes it's exactly what you expect. So, you never know which it is until you make that choice.
Doesn't help that some choices that are presented as neutral or casually dismissive, like Aiden saying "Nah," actually turn out to have him say something like, "Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding? I hate that and everyone who does it!" The preview blurb doesn't always match the tone/feel of what Aiden ends up saying.
Add in the fact that even the likeable characters (of which there don't seem to be many) aren't all that likeable, and I just don't care about the story or making anyone happy.
Maybe this will change; I'm 60 hours in and doing a lot of side stuff. I just got the lamps for Jaun's guy, not sure how long I have left. Though I hear the story just gets worse as the game goes on.
The only NPC I care about is the guy who needs a new tux. His old one rotted away years ago. I guess the wine-blood-paint artist guy wasn't that bad either. Oh and Albert the librarian.
I guess Aitor seems like an alright dude so far? I just healed him. We'll see if that changes.
And all of this stuff is just to culminate in the goal of finding your sister... it's a bit boring of a meta-narrative, even if semi-interesting child experimentation and GRE incompetence are intertwined.
